Well today WAS a good day....

Coming home from the store I was turning into my neighborhood and a guy in a Ford Econoline Van decided to smack into me....OUCH!

Totally his fault. I have no earthly idea how he couldn't have seen me as all I could see was the grille and bumper of his van. Essentially he had a brain fart and just hit the gas from the stop sign. Oh well....he was a nice guy and was fully insured with the same company I have insurance with.
The damage is minor that I can tell. His vehicle had no damage aside from the tire mark on his steel bumper and the paint transfer. The drivers side rear quarter panel is dented up and lots of paint scratches. The wheel appears to be OK but what concerns me is the fact he hit me square dead-center on the wheel/tire. I opened the trunk and the compartment on the driver side when opened shows a little buckled metal.
The accident had to have happened around 5-10 mph from his vehicle. I was doing roughly 10 mph in a left turn. Thankfully I wasn't going any slower or he would have T-boned me. No airbags deployed. He was cited for something but the officer would not tell me what and said I was free to go while he chatted with the young man.
Soooo.....the car is literally one year old within a couple of weeks (our baby :) ) and I was wondering what I should have done when it comes to the estimate? Our dealership is about 50 miles north of us and I really like them. They have a collision center there as well.
I am concerned about the fact the vans bumper hit the tire square on. There is no apparent damage to the rim. The rear bumper section is gouged into the sub surface.
What should I be asking of the estimator? What should I be asking to the repair folks?
Alignment? I have only driven the car .5 miles to my house at only 30 mph but did not feel any vibrations.
I haven't been in an accident as the driver in over 30 years so this is all new to me at this point.
Thanks for the advice and suggestions. I would hate to have a problem when the spring season starts at High Plains Raceway!!!
Cheers,
Pop
