    Front plate options

No, I haven't been pulled over for not having a front plate yet but I've been getting weird vibes lately that it's going to happen eventually or soon.

I'm looking for options on how to have a front plate without sacrificing my pre-existing setup which is an RS4 style grille with a euro-plate fixed.

I hear tow hook packages work, I hear there are some more sophisticated "hide-away" set ups and I also hear that some people zip tie them to the back of their sun visors and flip them down etc.. Just haven't seen any of it yet.

anybody want to post their front plate set up for those of us who are obligated by law to have one?

    thanks
    matt

If your euro plate mount is fixed, I think it would look weird not to put a plate there (i.e. tow hook). Some just mount a plate to it. Also, I have seen some people get away with a custom euro plate that has your state indicated and matches the back plate. Just need to check with your state laws...

I never liked the tow hook option for the plate since it throws off the beautiful symmetry our cars have. Im planning on getting the RS4 style grille also but i want the plate placement like this one below

Does anybody know if theres a plate insert of some type for this plate mounting or do people just customize one? I can just make one. Im sure its not that hard but im just curious if theres one available online.

This is what I did (for grille without permanent euro plate mount):

The following hardware should be what you need:
    4 1/4" x 1" bolts
4 1/4" Cut Washers (small for front of mount; couldn't get lock washers that fit in the front gaps)
4 1/4" x 1.25" Fender Washers (large for back of mount)
    4 1/4" Nylon Lock Nuts

4 Screws that come with universal plate mount (i highly recommend screwing in these screws before mounting on the grille so that you will ensure you have space to for license plate screws. Otherwise you will have to do it all over again and the screws cut it very very close)

I should have specified - this is what it looks like now ...

In RI I am supposed to have a front plate but since the grille i bought has a euro plate "mount" or empty space where a euro plate goes ( and i cant remove it ) i got myself a custom euro plate that reads the same as my actual plate (in the back) reads.

^This was before I installed the quick release adaptor (which allows you to take your plate off in literally 10 seconds, no screws to undo) it makes it a tiny bit bulkier but for sure worth it.

You can also go with Hide A Plate.......

Works well for states that require a front plate.....

I have been pulled over for it before. idk how cops are by you but I get away with it... you just need a good story planned before they come to your window.... I always use "my old car got totaled and the front plate was destroyed in the accident, I don't know what I should do to get a new one" then the cop tells me to go to dmv to get a new plate and sends me on my way lol

^haha i figured I would do the same for as long as i can - the hide away plate looks like a good option the tow hook is good but i dont know if i like the way the offset plate looks especially since i already have a euro plate on there...

thanks! This is exactly what i had in mind except i plan to use washers with one side rubber to avoid scratching the grille (i know its in the back but im iffy like that).

I ran no front plate for 3 years and got a ticket once. the good thing is here it's only a fixer ticket. What I did for my new car more for looks is went with a europlate but used my plate number on it. I haven't been pulled over once. Thy look but seems like when they realize the europlate is my actual plate number they leave you alone.

If you don't like or feel comfortable with that i hear a lot of good things about the hide away plate on a switch. Just depends on how low your car is too, don't want to smack it on a bump.
