Hey guys just trying to understand how the stock fuel rail is supposed to be hooked up on a 2001 audi a4 1.8t. I wanted to make sure my lines were hooked up properly and that i didnt have anything backwards. Also on a side note the car is running so rich that it stalls at idle and will not restart. I had to push start it to get it to run and if you let it idle it stalls out. It has horrible throttle response. How would i ensure that the FPR hasnt failed as i havent found a how to on how to diagnose a bad fpr. I know that the spark is fine and that the plugs are getting soaked. The car sputters when cranked but will not fully start up.

If i understand it correctly its Fuel pump---Fuel filter--- bottom of the fuel rail---FPR---360 degree turn in fuel rail---return line. Am i correct or does the feed line go into the top part of the fuel rail?

No, the fuel feeds into the fuel rail and the return line is under the FPR. This is because the FPR is used to regulate the pressure in the rail and feed line.

So the feed line goes to the line that sits away from the FPR?

Correct. Your entire feed like is pressurized, with your FPR being at the end of the line. You will see the design of fuel rail have a line that comes off the bottom of the fpr. That is your return system's starting point. The sides of the FPR measures the fuel pressure, then bleeds out the excess through the bottom. That fuel is returned back to your fuel tank via return line.

Iirc, I hooked up my lines backwards one time and it ran pig rich. Pretty sure you are going through that.

Can't recall. I think I looked at my fp gauge and shut the car off once I seen it.

Car is flooding out. Have to push start it to start the car. Horrid throttle response black smoke/fireballs. Stalls if you try to idle it.
