    Q5 Bike Rack?

I have a 2012 Q5 and unfortunately don't have a hitch. I have been using the Yakima Frontloader on the roofrack for the past 2 seasons, but it is nearly impossible to mount a bike by myself and it doesn't seem to hold the bike securely. Does anyone have any experience with trunk strap racks? Its hard to find a company that makes a rack that fits this car.....

Do your self a favor and go to U-Haul or someplace and have a hitch installed.
Then buy the Thule t2. It is fast, easy and safe.
You do not leave the bike up there in the weather and bugs. You do not have to struggle with putting bikes off and on up there. You do not have to worry about hitting a low overhang and then ripping the bikes and rack off causing damage to the vehicle and bikes.

strap on racks suck. They damage the vehicle, are a hassle and do not secure the bikes as well as a top notch rack like the Thule T2.

I agree, the hitch mounted bike racks are really the only good solution. Not cheap so if you've got another hauler, that maybe the better way. I also haul a boat or motorycle trailer from time to time so it totally made sense for us.

I have the Yakima Double Down. Couldn't be easier. Hitch required.
