XPEL Paint Protection - Rock Chips

So I just noticed these rock chips in the dead center of my hood just above the grill. I have no idea if the paint underneath is affected or if this is just the film peeled/smashed. Anyone know how to use the supposed self healing properties to smooth something like this out? I took a heat gun on low setting to it for a few seconds but all it did was shrink it slightly. Don't wanna leave the heat on it too long as it might affect the paint. any ideas? (Nevermind that handsome guy in the photos)

The entire film is roughly one-hundredth of an inch thick. Of that, the top 5% is the "clearcoat," which contains the self-healing properties. You can expect very light scratches/swirls and micromarring to correct, but nothing like a rock chip. A sacrificial layer is as a sacrificial layer does.

They ended up just replacing the film. It wouldn't normally be warranty work but since it happened on several spots within the first few months of having it the sales rep replaced it free of charge. Good to know they care about customer service. Xpel +1
