Has anyone heard of this event? its a long way for us but i am thinking about making the trip. I've always wanted to drive the dragons tail and what better excuse to do so than with fellow Audi drivers.

I'm going. I wanted to last year also but couldn't. I too wanted to drive on drains tail and blue ridge highway, not to mention others roads. I think you have to book by April 1 or something to get the discounted rate. It looks very family friendly with a lot of people bringing kids so I'm going with my girlfriend.
SOWO is also near tail of the dragon, I'm actually going to both events. :D

Just mentioned this to wifey after seeing this thread. Very interested as well. I just looked up that hotel and they are not smoker friendly. If we go, I found a smoke friendly hotel to stay in, which is only 4 minutes away. Not to be anti social by staying in a different hotel...but gots to have me smokes. Will let you guys know if we go.

Where the hell are you guys everytime i bring this up lol. i went last year and plan on going again this year! It is EXTREMELY FAMILY FRIENDLY!!!! This is BY FAR THE BEST EVENT IVE EVER BEEN TO!!!! im leaving wednesday after work, gonna get in early thursday morning and nap. The first drive is on thursday (evening) so make sure your down there.

GET THE HOTEL ROOMS ASAP!!!!! They had it locked up until March 1st, but i believe its open game now. There is another event going on that weekend and rooms are expected to sell. (already bought mine). The Tail is awesome but there are plenty of great roads (hot springs run kicks ass too).

If you guys want to caravan down ive been communicating with a group of ziners from PA and as of now we may be meeing them in Harrisburg PA wednesday night. PM me or reply to this thread. Any questions about the event please ask. I know the guy personally who runs the event so if i cant answer what you want ill just hit him up and ask.

Now I'm even more excited! I'll be driving down wed morning, going to crash at another ziners place wed, then head in Thursday . Will the hotel allow for early check in? I may head back with you guys on Sunday, but I gotta drop my girl off in Asheville for a flight Sunday around 11a.
I heard there's also some nice waterfalls nearby or something that it's nice drive to also

Shonseb i dont know if they allow early check in. i will say that right now there are literally 10 rooms left. Out of the 60 rooms QDM has filled 50. As we get closer to the event you may want to call and ask the hotel about early check in. as i said before im probably going to arrive in NC on Thursday around 8am or so. So im going to probably book a room the night before that way i can sleep a little bit. Its a very good time. Shonseb on sunday you may want to drop her off early because we are gonna get on the road probably right after breakfast. its a 12 hour drive. id like to be home before 10pm.

Any others looking to head down Wednesday night let me know.

I already booked months ago, double Queen with river view. I was asking about early check in for you, I'm staying at another ziners place on Wed night, he's like 3-4 hours from Dillsboro. In the morning I'll drive from there to qdm, check in at like 1 or 2, then enjoy the drives! Her flight out on Sunday is in the afternoon, but we're going to see if we can change that so I can caravan back with you guys

When you get there, there will be a lanyard with a list attached to it that you wear around your neck. has all info and drive times on it.

So anyone interested in meeting up for the drive down. Nothing is final but im coordinating right now with the meet in Harrisburg PA. we discussed at length what would be best for going. We came to agreement that leaving ASAP on Wednesday and arriving early Thursday morning would maximize time. That way we could arrive and sleep some, wake up and still have time before first drive (around 4pm). We will need to buy an extra night at the hotel (Wednesday). OR you could sleep in your car.

So im looking to meet up in queens. I would like to leave at 6PM. I realize that's during traffic BUT we have a 3hr (no traffic) treck to Harrisburg. from there its roughly 8 hours to QDM. I don't want the people over in Harrisburg waiting too long for us. So if your interested in meeting up for this meet please let me know. I would like to leave no later than 6:15 PM on Wednesday night. That would HOPEFULLY get us to Harrisburg before 10pm. Im trying to think of a great spot for us to meet. I was thinking the Stop and Shop on Northern blvd and 48th street. There is parking on the roof. Should be able to accommodate all of us.

Remember nothing is final and if you have a suggestion throw it out.

as of now looks like we will leave the stop and shop parking lot just after 6pm. That way we can meet up with the second group in Harrisburg and then go as one group. I do ask that you have walkies that way we can communicate. im actually going to make a thread and ask if there are any suggestions so if you have them let me know.

For those that aren't familiar stop and shop has roof parking, plenty of room and if you get there early your close enough to buy anything you need before we leave. Northern and 48th street (maybe 49th) is where its located.

So far its me and AKPS4 leaving from Astoria to Harrisburg. Are there any others who are thinking or want to meet with us? Also AKPS4 I may be able to move this time earlier. I should know by the end of this week. If there are any others who want to travel with the group please LMK. We got a decent sized group we are meeting with at Harrisburg PA. Just to be clear, this will be a minimal stop, get there ASAP caravan. Its a long drive and the last thing we want is to keep stopping for BS and nonsense. Just want to be clear.

I guess I'm leading the PA/NJ guys to Harrisburg. I sent you a PM about it, but I'm sure everything will go smoothly. Considering the signups are finalized pretty much, its safe to say that its 3 from NY(Shon is going down earlier though), 2 from NJ and 2 from PA(speaking in terms of cars, not people). I live closest to Harrisburg, so I'm telling the other PA/NJ guys to meet at my house and we can BBQ for dinner and await you guys to call that you are free from NY traffic. We will be about 1hr 15 minutes to the Sheetz location, which is right off the PA turnpike, rt 78 and rt 81. We can refuel there, grab some snacks/drinks, urinate, then start heading down route 81. Cascade this to others if can, as I don't have everyone's contact info.

A few ground rules for the caravan:
1. Bring a walkie talkie!!!
2. Jeff S. has a Valentine V1 so let him lead :)
3. Stops need to coincide with when we need gas. Stops will need to be right off the highway, preferably rest stops/welcome centers for gas. We can communite via walkie talkie.

My thought is that once we leave Harrisburg, it is 554 miles to the hotel. Considering we all have different vehicles (TT, 4 B8 S4's, B7 S4) all with different tunes, we should probably expect to make 2 stops for fuel. That will basically split the trip into thirds. I think everyone can go almost 3 hours without using the bathroom. When I say stops, I mean we take the exit, drive to the gas station, top off the tank, use the bathrooms and purchase any food/drink if wanted. A place like Sheetz would be ideal as we can also find food there too. If not we could find a gas station near a Wendy's or something :)

Bottom line is Formula 1 racing pit stops! We can't be lollygagging around or it will take forever and others will get frustrated with waiting when we could be 15 miles closer to the destination.

Ever!

Just got back a little bit ago, what an awesome trip! 84 (or was it 87?) Audi's. APRs R8 and RS7, another RS7, S7, S6, a couple of A6's, an RS6, 2 RS5's, a few S5's, A bunch of S4's, 7 TTRS's, a couple of TT's including a Daytona Gray wraped in Carbon, an A3, an 87 Audi 4000s and a Q5, Some of the best roads and curves I've ever driven.

Damn, i am jealous! Any photos/videos? I had a GoPro and a DSLR all ready to go. I am certainly in for next year. I made it up to myself by getting APR Stage 2+ since i didnt go down for this event lol...
