    B6 Interior Experimenting...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I've been on a bit of an interior modding kick and have been messing around with some OEM interior pieces. Thought I'd share and see what you guys think.

First I bought an OEM Euro 5speed knob. Love this thing....

    Bad iPhone pic

Forgive the rough buttons on the HVAC and shifter surround. Those are being sorted...

Then I purchased two OEM Audi TT Baseball edition interior steering wheels.

One is an S line wheel from an early model, and the other (Currently in my B6) is a later model that I've retrofitted to work with the stock 3spoke B6 airbag, which looks far better than the stock TT bags IMO.

The one in my car needed some touching up from previous wear, so I decided to get a custom dye from Leatherique and clean it up. While I was at it, I dyed my old knob and boot. I'm still debating on using the boot/knob combo or just use the BB knob with a black boot.

This shifter combo was 'inspired' from the A2 interior.

I'm also doing an Ebrake handle to match. Considering I have dye left over, I figured to just dye these pieces as they would otherwise sit in my parts bin.

I have a few other things I'll be trying soon, including a new wheel

Also, I have to redo my center console. Want to do the B7 swap, but we'll see.

It's different, but I gotta say I'm not feelin it.

on the potential B7 console swap though.

    Way to be different

As long as you like it, then that's all that matters.

I am with CrazyCal that I think as it sits it seems a little disconnected and requires a bit more to tie it into everything else and bring it all together.

Maybe some seats (with the ebrake you mentioned)?:

I am excited to see what you do next and what effect it will have on the overall look. Keep doing what you like!

Wow, much better Pshop job than I could have done! Thanks.

And I get 100% what you guys are saying. It's at an awkward stage right now, and I either invest time to make the interior match to tie it together or just go a different route...

I could easily redye these seats... Now you guys have me thinking.

I'm down with the shift knob, but not a fan of the steering wheel.

That last photoshop is working. Has a Louis Vuitton bag - classy/sporty look to it.

The A8 came with a similar color interior that is gorgeous. I think the steering wheel was black with wood trim.

Try the wood shift knob, that would look great with this color combo too.

This may be one of those rare situations where the woodgrain style/color trim (or quality gloss vinyl "woodgrain" wrap) might be the preferred choice over black:

I can switch to wood trim from my friends S4 whenever I need to. However, I think it'll clash too much with my plans now and later.

Almost reminds me of the e36 M3 Modena interior that came as a Individual option back in the 90's.

^ that's coincidental, I was going to say if I re do the seats, I will do everything in the OE BMW "Cinnamon" interior color. I'd post a picture but I'm on my phone. It's like a deep, rich, fiery version of baseball. Such a killer color, but I would like to stay OEM+ and dyeing seats isn't really OEM.

phew, i dont know man...to me it looks way out of place. the shift knob would work if you had the matching beltline trim.

That's a pretty good collection you've got started... I think you definitely need to do something with the trim to tie it all together.

How hard was the leatherique dye? Do you have any before/after pics?

Leatherique is awesome (color looks odd because this color is really affected by light and what shade it shows off as) to work with. It's all really in the prep though. It looks great, and holds up well.

How did you apply yours? Did you use a sprayer? I've been debating trying this out on a wheel I just got a deal on.

Nope, by hand. Recommend spraying it. It goes on pretty heavy by hand but with a sprayer it'll come out evenly and the texture of the leather will be more defined. I couldn't spray it anyway because the TT wheel has different stitching than the normal wheel color.

    Little update.

I'm looking to buy a set of B6/B7 wood trim. Considered wrapping my trim with 3M 1080 Wood grain film, but would rather go with actual trim.

I have two more wood steering wheels that will be for sale soon.

The center console, where most B6 interiors look the worst.

Used a stainless steel pot scrubber and this cleaner called "Awesome" from the dollar store. Should be at every dollar store out there haha. It's so caustic it removes the soft touch and makes it clean again.
