    Serious electrical issue!!!

A week ago my fuse broke for my central locking system and I replaced the fuse and smoke started to come from inside my door. So I took the fuse out and got inside the door where someone had already hacked all the wires. So I put them back and used a soldering gun to reattach the wires and taped everything up so it was nice and neat. Well put the fuse back in and its still smoking and looks like it moved into the floor. Does anyone know if this could be the issue of my central locking system module? My car is a 2001 s4 6mt. If it could be the module where is that located in the car? Or is there only the central locking pump that is located in the trunk? Could this be my issue as well? Thanks

smoke is not a good thing normally means where theres smoke theres fire or wires melting.I would check your connections again.Central locking module is part of the vacuum pump in the right rear of the trunk.I would check the wires in the door jamb and make sure none are chaffed broken or shorted together.

Well I'm not sure if you've fixed this problem or not. But, i know the wires that go from inside the car to the door sometimes crack. and the protective coating comes off of one, or more of these wires. This can cause a ground fault, resulting in smoke, or possible component failure. Try pulling back the rubber boot between the door jam and door to inspect the wires. If this is your problem you can buy a new harness on the net. And there are tons of how to's everywhere, it looks real simple. I will soon be doing this myself, as i also have this problem.
