Wow insane find! As mint as it gets. Chances of getting $75k are slim to none though.

    +1

When they have been run the engine/transmission.etc. normally doesn't get fully warm so it's likely condensation etc. will build up, plus if it's been sat on the tires they will have gone oval due to the weight not being distributed.

IMHO a well maintained high miler is preferable to a well under used car like this.

Previous owner was an: "Audi connoisseur who bought this rs4 brand new and never drove it."

Like a connoisseur of fine wine, it doesn't mean much unless you drink it!

Personally I couldn't justify buying a car and not driving it.

No thanks. A car sitting undriven for that long is going to be in need of service and way behind on maintenance.

I'd have absolutely no / none / zero / zip problems with the low miles on this car! The only issue I have is the price tag!
New tires / fluid(s) change and good to go .... these cars are quality no concerns for me.

No chance in hell anyone is going to pay anything close to what he is asking, for that price you can buy a brand new RS5

Maybe if he waited 50 years. I bet something more along the lines of 50k would be a much better place to start.

Kind of sucks that he just sat on the car for so long and won't get any substantial return. Better of just driving it for himself for now

  12. #12
He'll get $75k if he waits long enough. At this point, though, that car is more of an art piece than something someone can drive around. Also, if this was their plan, they should have gone with a more distinct color, IMO (like Sprint Blue or Mugello).

Anyone run a carfax on it yet to see for potential odo roll back?

Interesting find. Would make me nervous on first glance. Once owned a Saab Viggen. Was 5 years old and bought it with <5000 miles (garage queen) and it blew a gasket and the engine as a result of sitting and having parts rot, and this was in the desert (and also the problem of owning a Saab...).

This car needs a thorough run through of hoses, belts, gaskets and everything rubber (mounts, ties, tires, you name it). These parts have not aged properly as a frequently used part would (pressure and heat cycles). I'm not sure how it works with Audi, but with Ducati, if things sit (as collectors often allow) the bike becomes pretty useless without a top-end rebuild. Having experienced a similar issue with the Viggen and a Ducati 998, I'd recommend a fairly substantial overhaul for this thing.

Agree this car won't get touched for $75. It sure is pretty though!

Yea a friend of mine has a vette that is his garage queen. He put less than 1k miles on it last year. He took it to the dealer last week for an oil change, turns out the gaskets rotted from sitting so long and ended up with over $1k repair bill. His wife told him he has to drive that car more. Now he will be coming with us to VIR and summit point soon lol. Glad he finally sees the light!!

No way he'll ever get $75k. I'd say somewhere in the mid $50's to start would be much more realistic. I'd definitely bring this thing straight to the dealer or a reputable Audi shop and have them change all the fluids and go over everything. Then I'd drive it and enjoy it, but not necessarily mile it out. Even if you put 20-30k miles on this thing, it would still fetch a healthy price in a few years. At least in the $40's anyways.

Car's most likely going to be more problematic than an RS4 with 200K miles and well maintained.

My Dad bought a '97 A8 brand new and since he had two other cars he barely drove the thing. He basically used it for an occasional trip to VT and for going out to dinner every now and then but other than that it sat in the garage, at 5 years old it had under 15K miles on it. After a few years of this it seemed he was taking it to the dealer every time he drove it to get something sorted.

Cars are meant to get driven and it is good for them.

    Cheers,
    Jim

whether it's worth $75k or not, pretty cool to see an RS that's basically brand new.

Also, if people are doing this with b7 RS4's, gives me more confidence that our cars may in fact become 'collectors' which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy... Seeing it sell for close to that would make me feel even better.

As everyone has said-- if you never drive it , all the bearings are at risk of turning to junk, from wheels to engine-- what he has here is a nice but not great museum piece.

I don't know if they will be collector cars. It's tough for sedans to fall into this category. I think they will be cult cars for sure, though (ala E30 M3 right now/last year).

I do know I am keeping mine and not selling it. So, there's one off the market for good.

Never selling mine either, so there are two.
