    Mixing 91 octane with E85?

I've been reading about people mixing E85 with their regular gas to enhance their octane levels. Not putting in much, just a couple of gallons mixed in with 10 gallons of 91 octane to give them a poor mans race gas. I'm sure that running straight E85 will eat up the seals on our cars and cause other engine problems but could E85 be mixed in with regular pump gas to obtain a higher octane rating? Would the regular gas dilute the E85 enough to not cause any issues? Has anyone tried this?

These cars are sensitive enough already, with the proper gas, and very expensive to fix. No E85 going in my car..........................

335 guys do it religiously, and it does amazing things for them. I've only heard of people do it to pass emissions on our car. Seal66 is getting a E85 specific custom tune worked right now. Pretty sure firefox is getting one also.

Been doing this on every car I own since e-85 was introduced and never had a problem. If I am close to empty, I put 4 gallons of E85 in and top off with 89 to 91. But always end up at a min of 92 octane.

Have a Google Spreadsheet on Google Drive that I then calculate my octane level.

I accutally have started a mobile app, to estimate amount of gas left in the tank based on mileage at stopping to fill up vs average mpg. Then enter desired octange and it will tell you # of gallons each to put in.

Just haven't had time to finish it

I've done it a few times. Never had any issues other than a little hesitation when starting in cold weather. This does tax our already weak low pressure fuel system though. I would be hesitant to do it with power levels way above stock on stock fueling.

I did this in Oct to pass CA emissions. added 2 gal E85 to a almost full Tank, and passed fine with no issues. If you do it to much or run to big of a mixture I think it will eat away at gaskets and seals.

I'm going to start doing this. I have a few stations around me. I will probably do 3-4 gallons mixed with 12-13 gallons of 93.
