well i just swapped my 1999 1.8t audi aeb motor and trans i have everything back together mechanically and wiring wise and when i turn the keys it wont crank any ideas? is there any security that would stop it from letting the motor turn over. the starter dosent hum or click ive hit it a few times and still nothing. the motor i swapped with was out of a passat but i used all my sensors off the old motor.

You screwed up something with the starter circuit. It's the simplest circuit in the whole car and relies on nothing but the ignition switch. Did you connect the engine block ground by the passenger side motor mount? Are you 100% sure that you have the starter connected correctly?

The ground should be bolted to the engine-side motor mount bracket on one end and the frame rail on the other. Test for continuity between the engine and battery negative, and the starter 12v lug and battery positive.

There's a stud under the frame rail facing towards the front of the car, it's behind the AC accumulator/SAI pump area. It's to the left (facing the car) of the motor mount bracket.

Did you confirm 12v and gnd at the starter? The starter trigger wire goes through the engine harness, did you plug that in? It's a 1-wire connection near the back of the motor.
