    Lightbulb How Low?

    Hey everyone!

Just lowered my car yesterday, still getting used to the new ride.
Definitely more conscious driving now with my S4 being lower.

Just wanted to see some of the other members cars lowered, and hows the driving experience??

I can't see them either, anyhow are you running a camber kit? I'm thinking about lowering mine too but need to save for adjustable control arms first.

If your not running camber kits, let me know how your tire wear is.

I'm not running a camber kit and I have 24" FTG. Tire wear is just fine after getting alignment for toe settings

I am on H&R coilover, barely lowered with OEM rs4's. Without a camber kit, tire wear isn't bad, I don't rub, and i havent had to repace my upper control arms. But ride is still pretty rough. I think that has something more to do with the fact of thin tires.

I was up in Chicago area and it was pretty bad. I am located at the very bottom of the state, and it's just as bad if not worse. I almost have sympathy for my car having to drive on such crappy roads... You need to re paint or powder coat those calipers!

    ughh another low thread
Please guys unless you do adjustable upper control arms you're gonna wear out the inside of your tires.
Low sucks because: aforementioned tires, kidney jarring ride, potholes, speedbumps, steep driveways, parking lot curbs, looks ricer, general road imperfections, cops who don't agree that 2 inches is enough clearance and so on.

Low is good because: looks cool while your car sits, better center of gravity for when you're on the racetrack, that's about it.

I had my B5 lowered and it sucked daily driving and I wen't through many tires becaue I was too stupid to replace the uppers.
Let the VW and Honda guys do low or do bags.
Our cars are way too classy for lowrider status.

Replaced my full control arms, end links, inner/outer tie rods the same time (can guarantee they are ripped if 10 years old).
I daily my car and it took the slop out of the car, tightening it up. Have never bottom out or rubbed so I'm not sure what your getting at?..it's been a win win for me. The old sloppy suspension wasn't for me.
I guess you could go excessive but that's with anything in life.
To each there own and I'm def not one to point fingers

Aftermarket rims on a stock suspension looks less than desirable IMO..that's why one buys rims is to improve the look (some weight, yes yes) but 4x4 makes it look like a downgrade from OEM..again just my opionion

Did you go with longer uppers? If not then you will be a regular at the tire shop.
    Just ask S4orgy about that.
I'm all for replacing worn parts.
Tastefully done it's OK but most of what Iv'e seen is excessive.
Being from GA I assume your roads are in good shape.
In the northeast however if you find a smooth road it's only luck.

Excuse not granted. The weather looks fine. You can always do a wheel wipe down in between washes.

who really cares if we lower OUR cars... you can do what you want on your own car. I haven't replaced my upper controls arms and still not seeing excessive tire wear.

It seems like FK coils are well represented here. Will be in the market soon and, for what seems to be cheaper than an H&R spring/Koni shock combo, this seems to fit my needs. I will not be tracking the car so sheer all out performance isn't necessarily a primary concern. Also don't need top tier ride quality as a little harshness doesn't bother me.

Up until this thread I hadn't heard a lot about this set up. Just looking for owners to chime in and keep the pics rolling

I think that looks pretty good man.

I live in Jax as well and don't see many S4's so glad to know there are a few others out there.

I lowered my car in October with Koni Shocks and Tein Springs. I think the drop is okay, but I hate the ride. I think I am going to possibly go for that FK coilover set up here soon. I just bought a house so car upgrades are on the back burner but its on the list.

    No complaints about the FK's
I think they got a bad rap because people slam them down and complain when the .25 inches of travel have a bad ride, don't track well or leak.
These coils will allow you to drop them so low you will break something..its all just common sense.

I really do love the way handles, and did i forget to mention the look and stance, especaily if you put some small sized spacers
