I have a 2001 Parts car that had the double din and updated HVAC. Some posts indicate that you just have to add the power wire to A6 for illumination and your all set.
Some posts stated that it wasn't that easy for the 96' model year.
I plugged the cables in and turned the ignition to on and the unit powers up. I know I have to change the wiring for the rear defrost which is simple. I've looked through the wiring diagrams from the 96 and the 2000 model years, and there wasn't too much difference. The 96 had the mini control module vs the 2000 had most of the wires running to the instrument cluster.
Just trying to figure out if the wiring has been done to make it functional or would i be wasting my time.
