haha, that's what I thought as well.
PO was not very clever apparently. Car is going back together now, and I noticed it looked like this.

Do they make aftermarket shrouds for these? Should I go shroud-less?

    Lose them
Think flyboy had some numbers showing they didnt really do anything anyway.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

Shrouds are virtually for aesthetics only.

I would imagine shrouds would help on a track car that is going hard for 10+ minutes at a time. But on a street car, the carbon fiber ones look nice ;)

    lol. That's amazing.

I think unless you're successfully changing the pressure differential on the front vs the back of the intercooler (would need a pretty damn thorough shroud job to create more vacuum behind the coolers, although i think the rs4 bumper is designed in part to do this), you're not doing anything.

I think the er's are so damn big there's pretty much no room for the air to flow around them so the shrouds are pointless. On smaller smics like rs4s or stock, they might help.

After reading the input around here, and the above mentioned test, I am going shroudless.
And I am not paying $200 for CF shrouds. Doesn't seem like a worthwhile investment for a DD.
