    B8 S4 to C7 S6....should I pull the trigger? Critique my deal please.**UPDATE**

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I originally posted this in the s6 section and of course everyone there says to jump on it. Figured I'd post it here and see what you guys think I should do.

I currently have a 2012 B8 S4 6MT(check mods in my sig) that I bought this time last year. I put 5K miles it and feel I haven't truly gotten the chance to enjoy her fully. I really want a C7 S6 but convinced myself to wait a year until a used one showed up with all the features I want. Well I have a friend that works for Audi and this is the deal she offered me:

    2014 S6 Glacier White w/Black Interior
    Driver Assistance
    Black Optic
    LED Headlights
    Carbon Inlays
    All Weather Mats
    First Aid Kit

    MSRP $81235

    Selling Price of $76213
    Trade in of $41500
    Loyalty Rebate $1500

Here is the kicker, I can remove all my aftermarket mods and they want the car flashed back to stock. Otherwise thats the deal being offered to me. I paid $42k for my S4 last March. I'm thinking this is a good deal but would like the opinions of others before I pull the trigger. I figure I can sell all my aftermarket stuff to recoup some of the money spent and then use it on a tune for the S6.

On the flipside, I'm afraid that a major overhaul will happen for 2015 and that I will regret not waiting for that. Decisions, decisions.

    Thanks in advance!!

I wouldn't get into a 5 year old A6 platform at this time. You've got a brand new car with nice mods. Unless you are old enough to have served in WW2, I wouldn't be "trading up" to that gigantic floaty car.

What is the sales tax on a $80k purchase? That alone makes it brutal.

he would get 41500 in credit towards that so would only pay the difference in sales tax in pa

If you want it get it.
The S6 is a sexy ass ride!
I've thought of doing the same but feel it's a bit too big a car for me right now and I am not ready to give up a 6MT for an Auto yet.

Do it. My dad sold me his B8 S4 and bought a C7 S6. Hasn't looked back once-the S6 is a fantastic car.

How is it that you paid $42K last March and only have 5K miles on the car? They are going to giver you $41.5K now? HUH? You sure you didn't pay $52K last March and make a typo? This doesn't jive?

There is an S6 that often parks near me in my town, but I never find it that visually appealing. For $80k, I could find other cars, but if you need a sedan...perhaps this is the right option. I was in for service a few weeks ago and the showroom had two R8s, RS5, and an S8. That S8, as a father of 3..... Too tempting at a VERY reasonable price of +\-$125k. Whatever would make you happy, that's the right option. Enjoy life, unless you have kids. If you have young kids, save money because the cost of college, which in most cases offers a horrible ROI, defies expected inflationary rates.

Agreed! The S6 is not that appealing! I would spend the $$$$$ on the RS5 before the S6...or go S7 before S6. ...or ....dunno...list goes on and on and on..........

Wait, the dealership knows about our Stage 2 tune and are still willing to give you 41.5K for your car which you bought at 42k? Seems like a no brainer to me. That 4.0t V8 is a god damn monster. DO IT.

This forum is full of idiots. Stock S6 is as fast or faster than a Stage 2 S4. The tech and interior appointments on the S6, make the S4 look down right spartan. Great trade it, decent money off and loyalty. DO it.

Have no idea what your tax is in PA and too lazy to look it up, but before tax you're looking at $33k and change (that's taking the trade and loyalty credit into account). Add tax to that and maybe $35-37k to finance or less if you have additional change to throw in. How much did you finance on the S4? If you financed the whole $42k amount, you're looking at a lower payment on the S6 and a new car with a better motor. What are you still confused about? Sure, it may be a bit bigger but ask yourself what you want out of it. If you're looking for a very fast cruiser, then the S6 fits. If you're looking for a quick tosser then keep the S4. In the end, trust your gut, not what we say or think. It'll either feel right or not.

Don't listen to West. He's smoking crack. The C7 platform landed in 2011 in April with the launch of the A7, the A6 followed in June. You're dead in the middle at three model years in. It's a pretty solid deal. Do it.

I would do that deal for sure! I love the S6, that engine is a beast and they look plenty aggressive with minor, tasteful mods.

Basically you drove your S4 for a year and only took a $500 loss. And a good price on the S6 to boot. That's a no brainer!

The dealer is offering you a killer deal, so if you like it, go for it! Seems as though the S6 is a car you really want.....you only live once!

Exactly in the same boat - except thinking of doing the euro delivery.
