Why is my car 1" higher in the back?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have the Bilstein Sport shock kit purchased from ECS and the Eiback ProKit springs installed on front and back. I have been wondering, why is the front of my car 1" lower than the rear? Before, I had stock shocks and H&R red springs and it was super low, but level.

Maybe because the spring are stiffer or little longer...my b6 is hight like 1.5 inch on the back compering to front but when two people sit on the back looks even and have no rubbing issues. I run kw v1 with extra 1inch spacer on the back since kw always sags. But i thinks ur car looks good, and if you dont like it put some beaches on the back. ;)

Maybe because the front end is way heavier than the back? Mine is reversed, my rear end is 1" lower than my front lol.

You probably just have too much windshield washer fluid, did you fill it above the max line? If so its probably responsible for the extra weight in the front causing it to sit so much lower. Thats why Audi had to put a max line on the reservoir as too many people were over filling it and their oil pans would just constantly scrape while driving due to the added weight over the front axles. It became such common place that AoA issued a TSB since they got tired of having to replace oilpans under warranty. So the "max" line on the windshield reservoir is one of those 01.5+ revisions that people rarely talk about.

Oh wow, I did not know that! Fortunately, my particular model came with a fully automated windshield washer fluid level equalizer, also known as a crack. This enables the reservoir to automatically expel excess windshield washer fluid the moment it gets to a certain level. This, of course, leads to excessive slippage of my drivers side front tire due to the washer fluid being deposited on it during excess washer fluid expulsion. And that, has in turn led to my ESP/ABS computer failing. I wonder if there is a AoA service bulletin on that? Hmm.. I'm learning more and more every day.

The C.R.A.C.K. [ Counteract Resivoir Abundance Create *Klegensault (*German Slang for 'Bypass' ) ] was a secondary emergency countermeasure in case the newly added max fill line was still ignored. Unfortunately as you noted, it also resulted in reduced tire traction due to the fluid making contact with the front wheel. That is the real reason later model cars were fitted with ESP. ESPs sole purpose was to counter act the negative effects of the "overfill prevention crack" that was added to those later reservoirs. Hence why all ESP cars will also have the "MAX FILL" later revision reservoirs.

Thanks for the positive comments. While obese people would level the car out in the rear, it would also add weight to a car that already, as Jeremy Clarkson has so eloquently stated, weighs as much as a church. This thread keeps coming back :)

This was during the season a few years ago when he reviewed and tested the V8 RS4. If you recall, he raced a team of two free climbers up a mountain. He said that the car was great except that it was a bit on the heavy side. This is of course a generalization of most Audi's by him. Funny comment none the less.
