Hi! I'm planning to buy a B7 in the near future and need advice. If you were in the same position as i am, what had YOU done?

1: Remove all aftermarket stuff and "fun" things. I have coilovers, Testpipe and bigger exhaust, Rims (expensive ones, kleemann), tinted front windows, pioneer stereo with another front plate and isofix cables, cupra lip ect
And sell the car as stock for a lover price

2: let all things be on the car for a higher price. I do know that u never get anywhere near the cost of all things..

Does a stock car interest a larger amout of people ?

stock or modified, you're probably going to bring in the same value for your car. Thats why most people save their stock take off parts and put them on when its time to sell. Also, a lot of people will shy away from a car that has performance parts on it, since they think it means the car was beat on.

Take off what you can/want. Tint doesnt matter. You can always try to get a little more out due to whats left on

I don't understand the purchase move from a B6 to a B7, but that's just me. They are basically the same car only the B6 looks better. Buy a B8 where they actually changed something. ;)

    I agree, I would get a B8 instead.

Indeed. An "upgrade" to a B7 gets you cupholders, and a cam follower "situation". Doesn't seem worth it to me.

not to mention a bunch of issues that the PO didnt fix and you now have to fix again.

I used to think I wanted a B7, but it's really a poor decision to make if you're coming from a B6. Now if you had a B5 it would be a great upgrade, but I'd say you're better off getting a B8; plus you get pretty LED lights... ooooohhhhhhh...

I agree ^. I'm going straight to B8 after I sell my car this summer/fall. All I've been doing is dumping tons of $ into fixing a bunch of crap. S4 seats and B7 center console at least, so that should help for a quicker sale. Skip the B7 and do it right the first time.

Don't wrong the B8 is a better car all day long. I just enjoy driving my B6 more that the B8. The B6 seems better well built and less cheap than the B8.

Again, take what I said with a grain of salt. It was just my driving impression.

Take all the stuff off. It will attract more buyers. A car with a shit load of mods is not attractive to someone looking for a daily driver. Not adults anyway.
And I love driving my car more then my brothers b8. Mainly because his is automatic.

You know, I'm hearing this more and more from folks. Makes me feel better about keeping my B6 and finishing my build. The B6 has aged very well.

Yes i know a b7 is like an b6 'facelift' but i just like the big front and diffrent lights ;)

I love my b6 and will probably drive it for a time before i change. Maybe an b8 is a better change. A little more money but a whole diffrent car.. Thanks for the help :)

Not a bad decision at all I will also say, once the B9/Newest generations comes out (A4/A3 etc) the B8/B8.5 A4/S4 prices should drop a fair ammount.

Well if stock, the B7 feels and looks a heck of a lot better imo. Less problems as well. My B6 avant was a problem waiting to happen---50K + on the B7 only little issues........I will say the B8 is nice, however---I think it looks too big. The new A3/S3 sedan is the size I like.

OP, maybe hold out for a lightly used Allroad?

I agree. I test drove a well equipped B8 S-Line Avant a few years ago and decided my B6 felt so much better in terms of feel/build quality. Love the appearance of the B8 though.

Keep the wheels for the new car if you like them, Coilovers can be used on the b7 also.

Any time I shop for cars I look for stock. If it has a bunch of upgrades I move on.

Not sure what you guys are talking about with the B7 not being an upgrade... The B8's are hideous. The B7's look like they met somewhere in the middle between the B5 and B6.

I like the B6 exterior more than the B7. That being said, I did install B7 RNS-E, B7 s4 carbon fiber trim and B7 center console with cup holders in my B6.

    I skipped the b7, went to b8 (7speeds).

As far as the interior feeling cheaper, well, the first reason I can think if is the dash buttons do not have that soft touch feel. But on the same token, they will not peel and look like shit down the road...

The car feels larger, yet still tossable. The power is an INCREDIBLE step up, mashing the throttle brings on the torque like the car just got stuck with a cattle prod.

Though I understand what Sam says 100%. The b6 body lines are just timeless. i bet in 10 years the b7 and b8 will look more dated than the b6.
