Yeah I feel like it would be fine! Just clean the metal well and hit it with some isopropyl alcohol before you apply it

I might do the 3M tape + the tapping screw. Thanks, OP.

I also watched a million youtube videos last night, and might attempt soldering these wires together. Off to Radio Shack to get a beginners soldering kit!

I'm thinking of doing the same but with the DRLs.
I already did the transistor process twice twice and still get the bulb out error, it get's really annoying -.-

If you do, post pics or something, I've never soldered before lol

I'm pretty sure I did; I don't always get the bulb out warning, it comes and goes. I think the wires are not making a solid connection, as if the metal tab is not touching the wire fully.

Some of the wire tabs inside are for larger or should I say ticker gauge wires. You should double check that as well.
I bought two packs as in my DIY and noticed it.

The idea is to solder the resistors in for this reverse led project. I also bought the heat shrink, so I think I'll be good to go. Might try this today.

So I finally went to install my revere LED lights and resistors today, but ran into an issue. My RIGHT( passenger side) reverse light was flickering, and threw a bulb-out error. I swapped to bulb to the LEFT side, and the LEFT bulb to the RIGHT side. The flickering did not follow the bulb, and was still flickering on the RIGHT side of the car. Unfortunately, I had already soldered the wires together and don't know what else could be the issue. So I have two questions:

    1. Odds that my issue is a bad resistor? Could such a thing make my bulb flicker and throw the error code?

    2. Besides cutting the wire and starting over, is there any "easy" way to remove solder? Suggestions here?

Cut the wire and start over, you need to test whether its the connection first. The bulb is flickering because the resistor isn't making a solid connection or its the wrong resistance. With a resistor properly wired in, you shouldn't even see a "bulb out" when you take out the bulb.

    Hope this helps.

OP, can you think of any reason why the 50W, 6ohm resistor might not be working for me on my passenger side? It seems to work fine on my driver's side. I removed both reverse bulbs, and only get the error on the passenger side. I even replaced the passenger side resistor with a replacement 50W, 6ohm resistor, and then another. But the issues persist. I'm really at a loss as to why I still have these issues. I even cut out all of my old soldering from the passenger side and rewired it properly and just have electrical tape on there now.

I ordered a pair of 25W, 10ohm resistors based on this older thread - http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...need-resistors

As a reminder, this is the bulb I have:
    http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/1156-5W9x5630W
"High Power 1156 Reverse LED Bulb.
Each bulb used 1 x 5W Cree bulb inside a projector lens and 9 x 5630 SMDs on the side."

    I need help

Put back your regular bulb and see if your issue still persist.

I did. I put back both of my regular OEM bulbs.... and no flickering or bulb-out errors (no issues exist).

If not so,try it with the led bulb first. Then, the resistors. something has the fault. Bulb, resistors or connections.
I have swapped the new LED bulbs. The problem did not move with the new LED bulbs, leading me to conclude the new LED bulbs are fine.

When I said I removed the bulbs, I did so for testing purposes - per your prior reply to my issue. The Driver's Side (DS) did not throw a code with no bulb installed. The Passenger Side (PS) did throw a code with no bulb installed.

I cut out all of my soldering because I feared that I messed that up somehow since I have little experience in soldering. Since I made these cuts, I had to extend both the brown ground and the blue/red power wires. I used 18 gauge wire for this. All of the splices/connections are solid, and I have them currently taped together nicely. I am just at a loss as to what it could be on this one side. If my DS had similar issues, I would be more confident that it was an issue with BOTH resistors. But since my issue is only with my PS, I am confused still. I'm going to attempt to install the new 25W/10ohm resistor next week when the package arrives in the mail. Until then, I'd still like to pick everyone's brains on this issue. Thanks.

Very strange for only one side to give you this error. Why didn't you use the wire taps instead of cutting and soldering?
Did you also try swapping the resistor (DS) to (PS). Leave the DS with out a bulb and resistor to see if anything happens.

I didn't use wire taps because I wanted a more permanent and sealed connection. I could swap the DS resistor over but then I would have to mess up that whole side that is working-- including cutting everything out of the solder etc.

You shouldn't have sealed or taped up everything until it was good and working. I was suggesting this because it could be the resistor is at fault too. Just saying.

I should have done a lot of things. But live and learn. I'm not concerned about removing a little tape at this point. I had to tape up everything to continue to test this issue so I wouldn't have exposed wires touching each other or metal parts of the car.

Yep. Well post bak if you got it resolved with your new items.
Also, try to do the swap as I had mentioned to see if that works.

Help! Avants have 2 blue wires with red stripes? Which one should I tap into?

Took a chance. Looked at how the wiring was laid out on the light holder. Guessed that it was the blue/red wire next to the brown wire. And it worked!

Just an FYI if an Avant guy comes here looking for answers.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the grave.

However, if I wanted to change all the bulbs (brake/taillight light bulbs and indicator/blinker bulbs) to led bulbs will this one resistor be all I need ?

I had seen a video on YouTube with a guy showing off his leds. I saw a bunch of resistors. You could try it though. That was my intention at first, but then I went with a complete led tail light. I chickended out

When I was looking for some info, it popped up on YouTube.
I'm sure if you search you'll find something related to it. Here are my tail lights

Hello, guys i have a problem with my b7 and reverse led lights, so i installed Led reverse lights (P21W) with 50W 6ohm resistors. Everything works when car is turned off(key turned position 1 and in reverse gear), but when car turned on and reversin my parking sensors go crazy, just peeping and if i brake then sensors go quiet.
So, do i need another resistors/leds, or because sensors i cant use leds??
    Thanks..
