Personally I wouldn't use one. Its alot of continuous current through some small wires.

+1 to Packy. If you absolutely gotta have one because your vehicle is dormant for 3+ months, then buy one that has very low trickle, cycles itself off at top off, and connects to the posts for best results.

Have a look at ctek chargers. I use it primarily for my boat 90% of the time in storage but also for my car. It senses your battery type and runs a program to best charge or rejuvenate your battery. Had it for 3 years. Paid itself off

The Porsche chargers are made by CTEK. Just trying to figure out if the cigarette based charger method is safe with Audi, as the Audi branded charger (I think it is CTEK as well) is only battery connected.

I have two of these and they work awesome. I used to have my car and my bike connected to them at the same time. These work great, dont overcharge and stop when its done.
