    DSG shifting problem when cold

    I've noticed recently when the engine is cold and before my redline limiter goes away that it seems to have a long delay between first and second or almost feels like its trying to go into second before first releases. Either way it slams into gear hard when it does. It just sucks babying it til its warm as thats my entire commute to work.

    Anybody else have this problem? I'd take it to the dealer but rare problems seem to never get found. Maybe the computer has logged it?

    Update, getting worse. Dealer time. Hopefully Its not trans time already. I've only used launch control 7 times.

    Nothing here, though I pay attention given this and other hard shifting posts. Downshifting in Dynamic is a bit more robust and sharp, but in a good way thus far.

    Hope it works out, interested to hear how it goes.

    Typically the dsg will shift early when not warmed up, it has safe guards built in. You should be able to still rip on it and the computer will calculate when to shift. If you hook up your vag com you can log when and how hard the clutch plates engage

    Don't have vagcom. Dont have a lap top. I need to though, theres a few features I want to change with one.

    Its not the shifting early, its the delay between first and second allowing the engine to rev during then WHAM!!! I have to say under 1/2 throttle until i've driven it 4-5 miles.

    Appt made for next tuesday. Wasn't there a DSG factory update? I got the one for the power steering.

    How do you like the Unitronic tune? 11.48 is great. Did milage change? APR claims theres will go up. I mostly only hear about GIAC and APR tunes. I went from a 240 SX (about a 17 second) to this and OMG!!

    Look up in the regional forums who has a vag com and ask some one to log it for you and do what ever vag com tweeks you need.

    I love my tune I have been tuned for about 30k and 230 launches, it still puts a smile on my face. When I go to the track people are always amazed by how fast the car is. My mileage is consistently about 23mpg on a long trip which is fine for me.
