Long story short. No oil = No run. will post pics either tonight or tomorrow.

I found another engine I think, but I am looking for input on what I should replace while replacing the engine. (ie Timing belt...)

Also, does anyone know of a good link that does a walk threw on removing the engine? Could be a combo where they remove a 2.8 and install something else. Just as long as I can see what steps and tools I might need for the job.

I've got parts to order and to do.

Ruh-roh scooby. Something....what is it...? Something isn't right in that picture..hmmmm....

Red A6 is cool! Not very common. I'm going to say, having never done it before, that you'll be better off pulling the whole engine/trans together. So, axles, driveline, exhaust, lower subframe or remove, disconnect shifter inside car, pull front clip/ rad support, motor mounts, remove ecu with engine, unhook a couple wires...pull it out.

It's about the easiest thing. Simply yank the trim out around the shifter and remove the four 10mm nuts you see in there, undo the ignition interlock cable, a couple electrical connections... And whatever else is holding it in.
It's either that or you leave the axles, driveline, exhaust and do about the same amount of work removing the starter, getting the flex plate bolts out and all the bellhousing bolts, etc. I think the axles/exhaust/driveline hardware is way easier to reach, fuss with and remove than the bellhousing bolts, flex plate etc.
And you have to consider what will make reassembly/reinstallation easier. I would tend to lean towards doing a little more work if it's easier/ less frustrating overall.
