So I picked up some Hella HID projectors and a set of lower grill insets with the openings for the ACC cameras. (note: my car does not have ACC). The fitment is spot on in terms of being able to house these in the bumper where the ACC cameras would go.

The big question is whether to do it myself or have it done professionally. I have a decent amount of tools and the ability to do it, but what I do not have necessarily is the time. I usually find that I can get things done very professionally, but to do so takes me like 3-4x longer than it would a professional shop with everything at their disposal and the years of expertise. Of course, I live in New England, so there aren't the huge number of custom car shops like in SoCal of SoFlo either.

The mounting would likely include some fabrication of brackets, and custom switches since I want to be able to operate these independently of the headlights. The way they come from the factory is that they are meant to splice into your existing light lines.

Looks badass. Id like to see the end product. I dont have the Cameras as well and think it needs something down in those inserts.

Or maybe someone can make a dual front mount intercooler to fill those inserts!

Car goes to the shop next Friday for a week to do this, and a few other things. Had to find the right place to do everything that wasn't too far from my home.

That's awesome! GL with your project. I actually thought the A6/S6 equipped with driver asst/ innov package had fog lights. I had no idea until after I bought the car that what I thought what fog lights were actually the ACC sensors. I've been wondering if there's a way to install some kind of fog/driving light in that area... I think it could look really nice if done right. I've always liked the look of cars with headlights and (lower placed) fog lights that are color matched

I felt stupid as well after owning my S6 for a few weeks to realize I wasn't turning on the fog lights when I was hitting the button by the lights that I thought was the fog lights. Honestly though after driving my S6 a great deal at night, even with spirited driving in the twisties I don't think driving lights are needed at all with the LED's.

That said, I love custom projects like this.

Yes, the LEDS are absolutely fantastic and you wouldn't "need" additional lighting... I still think it would look nice with some color matched fog/ driving lights though. This is the setup I had on my b7

Work in progress teaser. The front bumper cover is off the car. You can see the custom fabricated brackets and the HID driving lights nicely mounted into the are that would otherwise house the ACC Cameras. Blinder laser jammer also being mounted while the front bumper is off the car with 4 front mounted pods. I pick up the car tomorrow along with the APR flash and Stasis Rear sway bar. Will post full pics over the weekend along with summer wheels and tires !!!!

Not to be picky but the area were you are putting your driving lights is were the ACC radar sensors are located not camera.

I think it will come out great but I personally am not into the flog lights stuff. Never turn them on to begin with unless there is a thick fog in the area.

It's guess it's a good thing you're not into fog lights... because you don't have them in the front. Unless you are referring to the portion of the rear tail lamp that lights up when you turn them on..?

I meant when I was in my prior cars. Of course I can't turn the front ones on in the S6.

Sorry, no. I only got the pics they sent me from Excelerate Performance. Anyway, got the car back today and the install has exceeded my expectations. Will post pics in the next few days after I install my summer wheels/tires. Suffice it to say, this car has been transformed.

To be sure, these are not "fog lights". In fact, if you turned them on in fog you would likely go blind. They are very bright HID driving lights. They come with a full ballast and are self leveling also. Driving this winter in my rural area with all the potholes, etc. sealed the deal in terms of this decision.

Driving lights are usually even more powerful than fog lights. In most areas, they are restricted to only be used when you are allowed to use high beams.

disagree, I'd love to have some fogs on mine. LED's are nice but not as bright as a nice set of headlights with a nice set of fogs. We don't have streetlights here and the coyotes seem to appear out of nowhere. Not to mention, fogs look great.
