    3.0 Final drive question

Hey all, it appears that the read diff in my 3.0 A4 is toast. I had a grinding appear on the way home from a road trip and limped it the last 5 miles. Sure enough it looks like my seals were bad and when I dumped out what was left of the old gear lube, it was pitch black. A refill with some new mobil1 75-90 didn't make it go away.

There seem to be a few on eBay, which might be my best bet right now. My question is, are they the same ratio/part between the auto and manual? I have a 6 speed, but there seems to be more auto ones on ebay. I gather from the internet that the ratio is 4.11, just wondering if it's the same for both.

ANY help is appreciated, thanks all!

PS. The new Diff I am looking to buy is an ETQ. That looks like it's 4.11 like my current diff. Should be good, right?

Make sure you buy the same rear differential code that was installed stock. The auto/tip ratio is different than the manual trans ratio.

The ETQ is listed as coming in both the auto and 6 speed with the 3.0.

I guess all I have to do now is double check that I currently have an ETQ installed.

ETQ = 4.11:1. Search "Diagnosicator ETKA", he posted a very good link. There you can find all of the gear ratios and final drives for the various transmissions that came on the B6, whether it be the GJV 3.889:1 6MT that came on 04' and 05' B6 3.0's, or the ZF 5HP19 5AT 4.11:1's. I'm not sure if it's possible to use a B7 rear diff with the same final drive, maybe you can check if the part numbers are the same and what not.

You can check to see what diff you have by looking in the trunk at the white sticker in the spare wheel area. Or call the dealer with your VIN and they should be able to tell you.
