Said F*ck it. Went to Stage 2.

After much debating, contemplating, and shopping around decided to do the GIAC stage 2 and awe pulley. Ordered the tune from a local performance shop today. Will have it installed in the car on Wednesday and I'll post videos and impressions after (you know bc nobody else has done that on here..)

Whats interesting is the stage 2 GIAC tune with install was $300 cheaper than the stage 2 APR tune with install. Made the decision pretty easy. SOOOOOOO EXCITED!!

Just drove home after the install, there was a bunch of traffic on the way so didnt really get to open her up.

But holy shit. The 30-60 jump feels so much faster than stock. The car just LEAPS forward. Still need a couple days for the ECU to learn the tune. I'll be dyno-ing in a couple weeks.

You must also have a DSG. Only people with 3 pedals have big balls

Keep in mind though, that small potatoes make the steak look bigger LOL

I'm thinking it's just more the shop and labor. The giac tune by itself was about ~$100 cheaper than the APR by itself. The pulley was the same cost for both.

There were some guys reporting the APR stage 2 tune was faster than the GIAC, but that was the old version of GIAC stage 2. The new version of GIAC is just as fast supposedly.

Congrats can't wait to hear the results. Only reason I've not made the move is I'm on the fence for which tune to purchase. My old SA recommended going giac as the scanners have been unable to detect a tune in his length of time with audi.

Yup, pussed out and went Stasis too for the warranty period, but thats ok getting lots of other stuff done in the mean time :-) This Spring RS5 front brakes and rear rotors lines and pads, then new wheels and a front and rear CF setup from Deval !

I can +1 that. DSG tune honestly makes a huge difference in day to day driving. Get it when you can ! Enjoy :)

My understanding is that it fixed an issue where the max boost was being cut short of what was intended resulting in something like 15.5-16.5 vs 17.5 (give or take) at various RPM levels.

Tune it and convert it back to stock before you return it at end of lease. I went all APR because of the quality and reputation. If you purchase the APR Reflash you can flash the ECU back to stock before you return for warranty work should you have an issue. However, be prepared to buy the car at end of lease if you decide to tune it.. Some dealers do not care, some will not notice, some will negotiate a new car from you to accept the return and some will make you purchase the car.. Is it a risk you are willing to take? Many have...

No. That comes later. I don't track my car or plan to. So heat soak shouldnt be much of an issue for me.

Interesting... I'm assuming making the tune stronger yet. Is this on Stage 1 tunes or Stage 2? Hopefully they will do an announcement.
