    B8 S4 Help Please!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 2014 S4 Black Optic Package. I drained my battery on the car. I had the battery charged and everything electrical in the car functions properly, except the car won't start. When I attach a jumper cable under the hood, the car starts and drives properly, when I shut off the engine and try starting it again, it won't start. Is there possibly a wire or something that needs to be changed? Please help. Thanks

Bring it to the dealer, don't tell them what happened... Let the warranty do it's work.. Do not tell them that you, or anyone else attempted to charge the battery incase they used that against you. Say the car only starts when there is a JUMPER BOX, do not say another car, is hooked up under the hood.
    Best regards,

doesnt sound like your cable is properly attached to your battery in the rear if you are able to use the jump connection and it starts. my bet is you blew one of the fuse links on the battery clamp. If you look at the battery clamp for the positive side, you will see some metal linkages connecting it to the cable side. do those link or look blown? Like suggested ...dealer since your car is so new and dont tell them what happened other than your car wont start.

How badly was the battery drained and how long was it dead for? Depending, it may be dead... get the battery tested.

"I live by that quote, unless".... doesn't that mean you don't live by it? I'm not trying to start something, but to fault others for it when you yourself do it when it's convenient seems a bit hypocritical.

Well when you figure out how to use the "S" shift function and how to sort out why the speedo is showing 21 when you are parked... I am sure you will figure out how to start the car also.

I am not going to check the gender without the doctor, am I? I am not going to deliver the baby myself either.. I hope that makes sense. It is the best comeback that I could think of. I should have said. I live and die by my signature.

Battery was drained completely. I charged the battery. Still didnt start, I had to throw a jumper cable under the hood. The car starts right up. I drove it a good 20 miles to make sure the charge was good. Parked the car, turned the engine off. Tried starting it, nothing... Had to throw jumper cables under the hood again to start it. I then checked the battery, it was dead again. It appears that the battery isnt charging while im driving, causing the battery to drain. Ill check the battery connection to make sure all is good. Maybe battery fuse is bad?

That must be why Audi no longer supports the option.

Have you checked your speedo? It might be broken, thus causing a battery drain.

I don't think the B8 has an ECU lockout when you change the battery, but here's the deal. Put a volt meter on the terminals on the battery and check voltage and note it. Then do the same thing at the terminals under the hood and make sure they match. Then leave the volt meter connected and on the windshield so you can see the readout when you try and start the car. If the voltage drops significantly, then the battery is shit. Additionally, if the voltage of the readout isn't at or slightly above 14 or so volts while the engine is running, your alternator is shit. The battery is used to provide voltage to spin the starter and spark the plugs/fire injectors. Once the engine is running, the alternator does the rest of the work to provide power to continue to run the engine while also recharging the battery (hence the higher voltage readout while the engine is running).
