2014 Audi Q7 improving ride quality

Hello guys! I'm not really happy feeling the bumps on my new Q7. I'm thinking would my ride quality improved if I downgrade my wheel size from 20 to 19 or 18?

Yes. Also look at touring tires, something with a softer sidewall. Just be prepared to sacrifice handling.

I have 21s for the summer and 18s for the winter. I found the the winter set is more comfortable but again the tires are a softer compound.

At the end of the day, its an SUV. I think 18s with some good sized sidewalls are really the best option for these cars.

Audispeed, what size rims do you use for your Q7?

I have factory 18" wheels. Having played the size game with other cars, I am a firm believer that anything over 19" is just too much.

I'm running a 17' wheel in the winter. It's a tight fit against the brakes but they do fit. Barely. Credit card tight. Anyway. Ride quality is good. It eats up the bumps. I have Oem 20' five spoke wheels for the summer. I'm sure it will firm things up quite nicely. I'm used to driving a firmer and more responsive suspension, I traded in a 2012 GTI with air ride.

But 21s on a Q7 are just gorgeous!

I concur, though I did opt for the 20's specifically because I've heard that people are burning through tires on the 21's and I can't afford 2k for tires each year. How do you find your 21's last?

Since I'm a student at Dal there is no way I could afford the car let alone the tires. First set lasted me 10k kms. I drove aggresively and they were summer sports and my dad was PISSED. New tires I think after shipping cost $2000. Problem was I rode those tires all year, minus snow days. Now I have 18s for winter and a tire set is $600. Lessons have been learned the very hard way.

I burned through my front tires at around 10000km. Gutta love the 21" wheels.
