    GT2871r T3 vs T25 hotside

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Im currently in the process of going big turbo, I bought at GT2871r with a T25 .64ar flange. However I'm having a hell of a time finding a manifold. A friend is willing to give me a super deal on an ATP T3 Manifold. So I have been considering swapping the turbo to a T3 4 bolt and going to an external WG.

Ive not really found much info on how this effects the turbo (spool time, power ext) I know that spool will be slower, just a matter of how much. Anyone running a T3 flanged 2871r? Would love to hear some impressions vs its T25 counterpart.

    Thanks
    Ethan

Im using a t25 .86 or whatever, and the spool is fairly slow, but suppose to be equal to the .63 t3. the .63 t3 is the most common though

Use the ATP ebay T25 clones for cheap. Many run the ebay clones with no issue. If it's going to crack, it's going to crack. ATP brand or not.

If I were to do it over, I think a T25 with internal wastegate would be so much easier to plumb. In the future if you ever wanted to go EFR, T3 starts at the 7064.

For the gt2871r the t25 is more then fine and .64 is best suited to it. Later if you want to upgrade their is other options like gt3071r or gt3076r. Hell you can wven do a gt3582r and use all garrett parts with a t25 flange.

I have run the eBay ATP clone with no issues... just lap the mating surfaces...

I have a 3067R that I am thinking about running open dump on. I have actually NEVER heard an open dump. Where I work I could not get by with it..... Then again I could drive it without getting into it.

I don't think it wold be possible. Where I work I pass Lambo's, Ferrari's, Porshe; I have seen a Veyron. I get some hairy eye balls and those super douches (not all) will rev it up a lot of times when i go by. Its hard as it is now, once I get it all together it would be an impossibility.
