Having trouble distinguishing if these RPF1s are 17" or 18" can someone help me out :D The owner of the car is Mike Yusko and has a front plate that reads REDRUM.

I run 18x8 enkei rpf1's with an et35 and nitto nt05 225/40/18 tires and my stance and driveability are dead on LOL.
I don't know why your ragging on this guys setup SPD. His looks like a 17x8 on 225/40/17's or maybe a 35 series AR.
Those are 17's because he's running 330mm rotors and what looks to be 17z's.

They're actually 18x8, 225/40 (according to the owner).

Found the link earlier today, but I don't feel like digging it up again.

I had 225/40/18 on my 18x8's at first, handled brilliantly with just a touch of the "stretch" look. I now have 235/40/18 that scrap the front fenders on a big dip in the road. Going back to the 225's. It's not all about looks. One must consider drivability as well.

Just couldnt get enough the first time so you came back for more lol.

No, I'm not 17, No, the FMIC is not my ideal look but I got the car like that and it worked well for the time. As far as rim width go I run 9's all around on my s2000 and it's drivability is "flawless" so I'm not quite getting why you guys might have trouble on our cars running a wider rim. It's not about the look to me as much the response and feel. If you run a 225 on a 8 in wide wheel vs a 225 on a 9 in wide wheel the 9" wheel is better in every way. More tread width, better sidewall response, better tire wear, less effect with a lossin tire pressure, ect.

I'm not trying to hate, just saying I'd do it different. If you're going to buy some nice wheels, dont buy skinny ones unless you plan to run blizzaks.

Yes, I live in the south and when/if it snows it doesnt much ad if it does more than 6 inches I have a truck to drive. So my car(s) have no skyjackery what so ever. I'm sorry if you do not have this luxury.

***************Also after further review. I think another thing that's throwing it off is the actual tire size (outer diameter is too small for the car) Looks more like a 225/35 than a 225/40

    So a 225 on a 9" wheel is wider than a 225 on an 8" wheel?

Essentially, Yes. The width of the wheel widens the tire allowing more contact surface to the road.

with less sidewall give and a rougher ride.. that is also something to consider. I prefer a skinnier wheel because I prefer performance gains via less weight and a tire that isn't stretched. "different strokes" is what applies here.

I suppose if you live one quarter mile at a time this makes sense. The ride quality is negligible, I've tested it.

Fun fact, an 18x9 RPF1 is lighter than any 18x8 RPF1. So, no weigh savings for the smart guy
    http://www.enkei.com/size_chart/RPF1.pdf

    18x9= 17lbs 18x8= 18lbs per Enkei(the manufacturer)

So essentially I've proven a wider wheel is better, in every possible way. kthxbye

You haven't proven ANYTHING lol, who do you think you're kidding here ? On a serious note 1lb per wheel is 4 over all and rotating mass is much more significant than stationary mass. ALSO I was discussing 17s (I didn't see that Yusko had 18s) which in the right configuration are 15.x lbs so we are talking quite a bit of a difference. If stance is your thing, by all means chop, slam, and bag your car. It's just not my preference.

You should re-check your stats it makes 0 sense to have a wider wheel that is lighter.

I also am chuckling at your statement that you've tested ride differences between the two rim widths.. Lol come on man! More tread touching the ground=less vertical sidewall. More Sidewall=More ability to absorb bumps and protects the rim itself better. That's just the way it is my friend.

Wow dude, just give it up. I've proven the weights, I know the ride differences(go try it yourself) and you're just rambling and making yourself look dumb. No one sports 17's unless you have a civic.

Looks like a nice car. But you have proven nothing pertaining to ride quality and stretched tires, you've given a biased opinion. People desire facts and test results not butt dynos and butt feel.

    edit: I missed the link

Looks like I was wrong on the weight.

Wow, again.....look at the Enkei link i posted above that you quoted has the wheel weights. I'm tired of this.....go cruise on your 17x7's and keep it "light" in your quarter mile......peace

Thems wheel wells are looking like

No drivability or fitment issues there.

Just for reference 18x9 et35 rpf1 don't fit our (b5 s4) very easily if at all. Some have done it but they damn sure aren't clearing that brake setup on the santorin without Mega poke. Sorry ain't happenin'. Ask me how I know ;). They backspacing and flat or "concave" spokes on the x9 do not clear even hp2 calipers without at least 10mm spacers. The x8 do because of the curved spoke design which detracts from their aesthetics IMO. But at least they fit.

Fwiw, I think all these cars in question look damn nice in their own way...

Tweets, interesting enough, the 18x9 very well may weigh less than 18x8 in certain et due to less pad material on lower et wheels.

Yeah, ET matters but when you have the same ET how could something with more material weigh less? He went all "mike drop" there lol. Oh well, pearls before swine I guess. Clearly in this case it happens, just not something I've ever seen before. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong!

I hear ya man. I bought a set of x9 et35 and was as surprised as you. Also the spoke design has less material than the curved x8.
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...RPF1-Group-Buy

    18x9 et35 17.25 lbs

Pretty sure 18x8 et35 are slightly heavier at 17.8ish or so
