    I subscribe to this notion.

My ideas when it comes to sickness- Just ignore it. I rarely get sick, and I attribute it to my attitudes on OTC meds and such. I wont take anything because I think it weakens my immune system. In my view, the more drugs in your system to combat sickness, the more reliant your immune system is to those drugs. Take the drugs away, and what is left? No ability to fight it off and you are much more susceptible to sickness.

Obviously this doesn't apply to something serious. The common cold or the flu? I've had great luck just ignoring it when I was younger.

I am not one of those crazy people who wouldn't immunize their children against polio or something. This only applies to the simpler ailments

The only real ways to kick flu-like symptoms is sleep and antiviral medications. "Sweating it out" is a myth.

Chicken noodle soup is about the only "old wives take" that is actually somewhat true.

They don't literally mean to sweat a cold out of their pores. The theory is that by raising your body temperature, your white blood cells are able to move throughout your body more efficiently. Too much heat can be a bad thing also.

I don't know bro. I heard that's how Magic got rid of his AIDS, extra blankets and those glass heat suction cup things that I saw in Karate Kid. Knocked it right out.

rinse your hands with water after you go to high-germ areas like supermarkets and public transportation

soap and anti-bacterial is overkill most of the time

don't bite your fingernails or put your hands in your mouth

    get your flu shots

    drink nyquil

I usually go to a place that has a Sauna. Sit in it with gallon of water, drink and sweat until its gone. Feel like shit for about a day but all better. Release toxins, heat the body, poop/piss it out.

Remember... if you are always drunk... you never feel anything.

Lots of fluids, vitamin C (you really just urinate out excess vitamin C), and rest. I really like Airborne (check your over the counter pharmacy cold section).

    ^This.

Dr. Eric recommends tequila chase for your tylenol. When I get the flu and I'm sick for like a week, at least 1 or 2 of the days I'm drunk because it gives you a break from the symptoms. hah, kind of counter productive though with the alcohol's effect on your immune system.

most dangerous thing i've seen in this thread. Tylenol (acetaminophen) + Alcohol = Liver damage. Tylenol in large doses causes liver damage on its own, alcohol has a multiplier effect on this.

aspirin and ibuprofen are also contraindicated when drinking. naproxen is the safest pain killer to take if you intend to drink heavily because its damage is the least permanent.

The best remedy for me was Thera-Flu Severe Cold, but I think that has been discontinued =/

Otherwise, being Asian, my parents have a cabinet full of herbal medicine.

This stuff works pretty well for me:
