So seafoam was on sale at Autozone and I though, hey why not run a can through the tank. If you do this, dont just add the can to the gas fill neck. USE A FUNNEL! I didnt realize that the top of the neck that is shaped like a cup is actually a drain and probably about half of my can ended up on the ground..... You live and you learn. Just wanted to throw that out there for others, as I know its become standard to foam your car. I guess I got about half of the can into the actual tank.

Yes I learned that too. This is why I fill it up very slowly at very small angle, and never get a dripp.

I usually run about 1/2 the can in my tank....and the other half through the intake.

Same here. Didn't notice a increase in performance though. I think most people do it for the smoke show.

Yeah it was certainly one of those moments. in my old cars I like to run a full can through a full tank every once in a while. I think the intake exposure is overkill.

all you have to do is open your gas cap to figure this one out....theres no way to NOT spill it without a funnel.

It's not something I do all the time, but I usually notice a little difference in my mpgs afterwards. It always smokes, but I've found that the worse the car is, the darker the smoke.

Running it through the intake is also a good way to check for exhaust leaks.

I put a can in the tank maybe twice a year. Don't really notice much of a difference. They say you can also put it into the crank case.

WARNING Do not put it into the crank case. My buddy put it into the crankcase on his Camaro and it spun a crank bearing. I also put it in my 5.0 Mustang I had and from then on I blew blue smoke. Maybe its just because we had older cars. I just know I wont risk running it through the crankcase on my A4. There is my 2 ¢

Seafoam is pretty strong stuff and on an older (untreated) engine it can cause large chunks to break loose and clog the oil passageways, pickup screen, etc. I have used it successfully in the crankcase multiple times without any issues.
