Need help upgrading 2G MMI on 2005 A6

    Hello All,
I am a new owner of an 2005 A6 3.2 Quattro, and need some assistance.

I apologize but after extensive searching I've not been able to find a MMI version the same as mine and - if or how - to upgrade the version of my MMI. I've downloaded the 3 cd set:
    3360 (3.3.60) Part # 4F0 906 961AB ---- 4610 (4.6.10) - Part # 4F0 998 961.

I've burned all 3 to cd-r's at the lowest speed - verified the files on each cd - put them in slot 1 of the cd player in the glovebox (which works perfect playing music cd's) - and have tried in various order all 3 cd's, but keep getting the same error message "metafile not found" "cancel" "try again".

I get into the update menu using the Setup & Return buttons:
I've inserted, ejected, rebooted, tried again, cancelled and started over.. I'm stumped at this point as to how to get the update to start..

I recently upgraded my Nav from version 04 to 2010.

If i am forgetting any information that may be needed, please let me know..

Here is my current MMI version info:

    SW: C6-HU 6360 07.5.0 0439
    HW: C6-HU 6360D2.0
    FC SW: 03501AFC6AB320870
FC PS: 0870 FC HW: H07

Thanks in advance for any assistance that can be offered..

You could also purchase the CD's rather than pirating them and getting questionable quality. They are less than $10 each.

You will need to know the part numbers for the disks. You will get the upgrade disks in a nice plastic CD case.

I'm telling you take the changer inside, it's a few screws to open the case and very lightly clean the optic lens with 91% iso and q-tip. No pressure just float it all over the lens...takes 10 min start to finish

Thanks Jimingle..!! - gonna get to it today.. Disassemble and clean and reassembly - I'll let you know how it goes.. If all else fails, will go purchase the disks at the local dealer; they have the disks in stock $11 for the 3360 upgrade and $35 for the 4610..

OK - finally a day off, and still no luck. I've bought a cd-rom cleaner (2 in-fact) - - pulled and disassembled and cleaned the changer with alcohol, q-tips and canned air, purchased the actual cd's from http://genuineaudiparts.com - - and still cannot get the update to run.. I continue to get the same error message "metafile not found" "cancel" "try again". (btw) I've attempted using all 6 slots to run the update from..

The cd-changer works perfect, when playing a purchased or burned music cd. I've played cd's in all 6 slots, without skipping a beat..

I am stumped - Any further thoughts.??

there was an issue similar to you in Audiworld and it was resolved by replacing the CD Player ... >>> http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2862652

Mine did that same thing. Only slot 1 will work. Try leaving disc in it for awhile while driving before attempting update

Yeah, i read that post after Googling around and found that one, amongst the various multitudes..

Thank for the advise - I will give one last gungho of "leaving the disc in for a while" - before breaking down and browsing through ebay, to find a gently used cd-changer..

It appears, i will have my hands full this coming weekend, it sounds like i will be replacing my alternator clutch as well

Good news is, i was still able to install the 2012/2013 DVD Nav update..
