Over mileage on cam follower extended warranty

Called AoA, said they have in the past done "good will" repairs on out of warranty cars. I'm sitting at just under 135,000 on my 06 a4. She said it would be up to the dealer that I took the car to if they would do the repair. Called my local dealer which is about 45 minutes away. The service manager I talked to said bring it by and they will have a look at it. He said it would be around 100 bucks for them to check it out. I'm holding my breath hoping they will help me out. Has anyone here had any experience with this? I'm wondering if driving the car is going to fuck anything else up, or is what is done is already done.

Before you drive it over, make sure they will do the warranty work and waive the $100 fee if it requires replacement. No point in wasting your time going there, paying the fee for inspection, then be told you have to pay for everything.

If they agree to do all the warranty work, drive it over. If your follower hasn't been changed out before, you are pretty much guaranteed it is fucked.

I dont think 135k will fall under "good will" warranty, I think thats reserved for instances where you just bought the car from a dealer used and had a problem or you were close to the warranty, not 135k miles. That seems significant to me considering its a wear item and known issue.
You probably better off looking for a reputable nearby audi shop (non dealer) that is hungry for that type of work. Dealer is going to be most expensive for any out of warranty repair...
