    Sticking caliper on B8 S4?

    Hey Guys,

Anyone have any issues with their calipers sticking? I told the used car dealership that my Rear/ Driver rim has much more brake dust than the rest. Their conclusion was to replace the rear pads and rotors as they were out of spec, they guaranteed their work for 6 months but, that tire still has more dust than the rest. I would also note that the rear tires have considerably more brake dust than the fronts. Also the car has been pulling slightly to the right making me think the caliper is sticking as the tires don't appear to be wearing unevenly after a few months.

Anyone have any experience with this issue on the 2010 B8 DSG S4? I didn't see anything in the forums about sticking calipers.

    Thanks,

    Shawn

Maybe the rotor is warped but unlikely.

You need to check to make sure the caliper slides freely and that the piston bore is not damaged.

The rotors and pads are both new OEM for the car. The originals before replacement were cross drilled rotors on the back. So I am assuming this is the third set of rotors on that car.

Lets say the rotors were warped causing wear. You would feel a pulsation in the pedal. As I said earlier. Make sure nothing involving the caliper is bound up.

On a 2010 you might be nearing a break job if you're around 50k miles.

sometimes when I put on the parking brake after driving in the rain or snow and then try to release it after some time, the rears will stick...is this similar to what you experienced?

You may have some air in the system, or a bad proportioning valve sending more braking pressure to the one rear. Sticking caliper would be very hot after normal driving causing discoloring of the rotor. Or they just put in what ever pads they had and the rears are not a match set? "it could happen".

It seems that it's a possibility. It seems like my car pulls more right intermittently. I stopped using the parking brake for a few weeks as I thought maybe that was a cause, but it still dusts up the left rear tire pretty good. The rear brakes have new OEM rotors and pads. Just wondered if anyone has encountered this issue and what they did to resolve it. I will probably just take it back to the dealership i bought from as they warrantied it for 6 months. I figured their solution wasn't going to work.

I haven't noticed any discoloring of the rotors, but when I clean the rims every week. That tire is the worst and would explain my car pulling right occasionally. I guess I will take it in. Just not looking forward to driving a 2013 Impala again (their renter).
