N75 - should they leak or not (through the long leg)?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I always keep a known good N75 on the shelf.
Recently ordered for that purpose 2 ORIGINAL OEM N75 (06A906283E).
This weekend, we were tuning a friends B6. To rule out N75, we swapped the old N75 for the new one. Acted poorly.
Took new one out, and blew into the long leg. Air passes through.
    OLD N75: no leak.

Since the part came from an actual (?) Volkswagen dealer (via Amazon):
    a) are N75 supposed to leak through the 'long leg' when not powered?
    b) if so, how much?

Or did I in deed receive a defective OEM (?) part?

Normal pressure path is in through the bottom port and out through the short leg to the waste gate. When the valve is activated the path to the long leg is opened and the boost signal dumps into the TIP.

Question is: long leg (purple in the pic) sealed/tight with no power?

The N75 Center/short ports are Normally Open, and the Center/long ports are Normally Closed. The Normally Closed ports should not leak. When energized, the NC ports are Open, and the NO ports are Closed. This is why if the N75 is unplugged, the waste gate receives full boost pressure and the boost is limited to the default fail safe 5-6 psig according to the waste gate actuator spring tension.
