Random connector found in engine bay...

Can someone trace a wire for me? I've searched forever and can't seem to figure this out...

Under the coolant reservoir, there are two wires that come out of the harness. One leads to the sensor on the bottom of the coolant reservoir, the other, I don't know. I found it unplugged while trying to diagnose egr valve problems.(maybe related?)

I need to know where this second connector goes, it has about 2 feet of wire and a 2 pin connector.

Seriously, if someone could trace this wire for me I would be forever grateful, or tell me it's not supposed to be connected and I'll be pleased with that too, but I can't imagine that'd be the case.

I can upload a pic in the morning if you don't see what I'm taking about.

    Thanks fellas.

Thanks for those, but it's actually the wiring directly beneath the coolant expansion tank. Not the temp sensor. I feel like I looked at nearly 50 wiring diagrams last night, but couldn't identify anything. I'll post a pic up in 30 minutes or so to show the exact wire.

Here is where the connection originates. Out of the same sheath as the coolant reservoir sensor wire:

Another shot of where it starts, this is looking right below the reservoir:

When I found it, it was loosely run toward the back of the engine, so maybe used there somewhere?

It's possible, but I think I would have symptoms if it wasn't plugged in. Car is running great besides P0491/P0492 (EGR issues). And I don't know if it would reach all the way over there. It comfortably goes about half way across the back of the engine, or if it's going toward the front it can go just beyond the front corner of the engine. Maybe some sort of valve/actuator down the side by the driver wheel well?

I just looked at mine, and that wire runs to a clip behind the driver side headlight and then down below it. Pic below, circled in red is where the wire is held behind the headlight.

My guess is either fog light or headlight washer. You would get a bulb out warning I presume if it was your fog light, so I'm going to say with 75% accuracy that it's the headlight sprayer thing.

Ive heard a lot of people disconnect the headlight washer pump, because unless youre doing slushy snow driving or dirt roads they tend to make more of a mess than good. Sounds like the culprit.

You could always just go out and hold your windshield washers and see if they come on.

Awesome guys, thanks. I had noticed once that one of my washer's hadn't been working, I guess that's it! I'll see if I can't get it plugged in properly. Thanks again.
