The 12.4 run was with 45psi in the tires and I spun like crazy! Never checked the pressures since I got the tires mounted so made that adjustment and ran pretty consistent the whole day... I know the car has a little more in it but I think the limitations are traction and the fear of blowing up the stock clutch so I tend to be a little delicate on the launch.. However with that being said the stock clutch is now on around 65 launches (~25 at the track thus far and it's been pretty solid... The 15.159 run I got a shift delay and as soon as I felt it I just let off and coasted and didn't even waste my time hence the slow ass time. Lol. Figured it was worth posting though since it was one of my runs after all. Only weight reduction was the spare tire removed, everything else was full weight..

So overall I think it was a pretty successful day, Ryan's record stands for a bit longer even though it was a nail-biter. But I'm pretty happy seeing it crack off an 11.620 with stock rotors, stock cats and stock downpipes. I'm pretty impressed, especially since Tsivas has only seen a 1/4 mile strip for two passes prior to today and it was the first time he's ever driven my pops car. We didn't even check the tire pressure on the DSG LOL! Whatever it was it was working...

So .01 seconds away from the record for the DSG and I was able to break my own manual record which I'm pretty happy with ;) also I let Tyson know to peel that sticker off his windshield :P

    Car # 835 was the 6MT
    Car #2835 was the DSG

Awesome results man! As long as we're not a full second slower than DSG, I'm happy with the updated software. Still waiting for the new '14 stage 2 file. :-/

Damn, for some reason I thought Atco was closed during this time of year. Good to know.

Winter tires are actually pretty sticky, it's a poor man's drag radial lol. Look at those 60ft!

Tires weren't spinning when I ran the car and 1.67 60fts are pretty good. If I took time to fiddle a little with the tire pressures and had a tad less gas than a 1/4 tank, I prob could have beaten the record with this car.

Awesome! Looks like fun! Love the vids too! That first one against the white BMW is awesome - perfect launch!

Question - how's the stock clutch holding out on the 6MT?

Was really hopping to see some final definitive proof on that whole "EC Headers" debacle, but alas, we'll have to keep blaming the 6MT driver on this one, aye?

Maybe that plane flying dude will have more info once he gets his installed but I think he's APR.

Headers pretty much don't do anything IMO. After this track day we can pretty much see that.. I don't know how much better the 6MT driven, especially since I'm the only 1 in the 11's with a manual and I've done it with two different cars

Nice runs and thanks for catching the white BMW's time. Not much in the way of recorded runs of the 435 cars.
That was me in the BMW trying to figure out the launch control feature. Car is stock.

I think there is pretty good proof in the MPH. The stock cat/downpipe car was within a half mile an hour consistently with less mods (no lw rotors, etc.). If you look at the race they had against eachother, the non-header car actually made up MPH between the 1/8 and 1/4 mile where you would expect the headers to help the most. Not worth the $3000+ investment IMO. I would like to see what a similarly equipped test pipe car can do....

Edit: what I don't think is mentioned here is that the 4th time slip is the two cars racing eachother. DSG on left, 6mt on right. MPH were nearly identical, and you can see the DSG actually gained MPH in the last 1/8 mile.

It's been said the test pipe install is a much better way to go and after looking at the stock manifolds, I cannot say I disagree with this. I've actually looked at the entire exhaust system on the B8 S4 and for the most part, it's one of the most efficient one I've ever seen on a car. This is why it's so hard to make up anything on the car with an aftermarket one. Resonators and CATs are about the only small % of power robbing components in that thing. Now, where it would be interesting is how it'll affect a Stage 3 car, but I'm willing to say that the stock exhaust manifolds are so short that it won't matter much even with that.

Good driving in the 6mt, being so close to the DSG time.

I ran a 13.4 the other day that car was flying entirely too fast for me, I cant even imagine what an 11.6 feels like. Infact my first run was a 13.6 I was too scared of my speed that I braked early...

the only difference i see is a tenth in the 60ft which generally equates to 2/10 in the quarter. in this example it shows the 6mt actually is very comparable and came down to the launch.

seems the headers dont do much, and should help most to decide against them

Nearly 20 years ago I found about the same thing on the old 5.0 Stangs that I used to wrench on daily- on more or less stock style heads whether you used shorty or long tube headers, it made very little if any difference, on 300- 600HP cars. The long tubes just sounded better as the collectors were practically under your feet but that was about it. They also messed with 02 sensor accuracy a bit.

Seriously nice work on the 1/4mi runs! That's flyin on both cars!

I'm very impressed the B8.5 DSG is able to do that well. I was getting a little worried given the gearing changes on the DSG but it doesn't seem to hurt that much given the times you beat out of it.

Pretty sure that the DSG flash helps with that with the rev limitations (plus I think they optimize torque management of the TCU with the ECU as well).

This is awesome shit Auditude!! And good driving Tsivas :3

Pretty sure you can break the record with some changes in tire pressure like you said.

I agree the DSG flash is probably helping, esp re the RPM limit, but I was describing the differences in gear ratios between the B8 DSG and B8.5. I forget where I saw them but I believe 1st and 2nd were equal and 3rd on were a taller though by differing amounts. Some had said it was disadvantage B8.5 vs B8.

Oh yeah I've read about that too and I've posted in other threads that the gearing poses as a disadvantage as well haha (kind of misread your post, my bad). At this point I don't know anymore..

    Great runs gents!

Very proud to see that the DSG car is going that fast with a small mod list.

Thanks, you get a good look at it as you went by me? Lol
I had a couple flybys courtesy of Audi and Merc AMG yesterday.
Btw it looks to have been a -.311 DA on our run via Dragtimes calculator for ATCO at 11:54am yesterday.

    See you next time.
    Regards,
    Mike

Nice Job! What RPM are you launching the 6MT at with the stock clutch. Just curious given the "delicate at launch" comment. Any tips much appreciated.

Rev to 3400 dump clutch in one motion and mash throttle. I have around 65-70 launches like that with zero clutch issues

Fastest car is 11.61 with Testpipes, better DA, lightweight wheels, lightweight rotors, weight reduction and lighter driver..

My pops car did 11.62, trapped higher and has stock rotors, stock downpipes, stock cats, stock coolant pump and wheels were almost as heavy as stock (winter wheels mounted)..

I think that's pretty impressive and shows the power the car is making..

My pops is gonna do LW rotors and LW wheels and try for 11.4-11.5 next time out :)
