    Hello all,

I apologize for the redudant question that has been asked several times over the years but I have not been able to find a straight answer.

    First:
    I have a 1996 Audi A4 with a 2.8L 12v engine in it. (Blown Motor/ Great, Straight, Body)
    I also have a 2001 Audi A4 with a 2.8L 30v engine in it. (Great Motor/ Horrible Body)
Please note... I have 2 cars that are complete.

A friend of mine gave me the 2001 for some side work so I really don't have any money into it, however the car is a parts car. It had the rear quarter panel taken to replace a panel on his A4 and so it's not practical for me to try and fix as the panel and paint is going to run me about $1000 to fix the right way. Not to mention that the frame is bent from being in a front end wreck. It does however have the engine, tranny, and all the interior electronics that I would need to swap everything over, if possible.

What I am wanting to do is to just pull the 30v out with the 5 Speed transmission and swap it into the 96. All I want to know is will this work without having to custom make mounts or parts, etc. If all I have to do is swap the body harness and the electronics... I am happy with that. You guys can argue practicallity all day long, I'm not worried about that part.

I believe I have read that it has been done before, but I just want to make sure before I dig much further.

Thank you in advance for any light you can shed on the topic!

If you have the time to do it then jump in.

I dont think you'll need to worry about custom mounts, just swap the subfames with it. You'll have to deal with swapping clusters and harnesses. As long as they are both the same platform (both quattro or both fwd) its will just be time consuming.

If I was going to do this I would pull the dash out and swap interiors too
