Is it possible to remove the lower steel oil pan with the motor in the car and without removing the subframe?

Yes. You do have to move the front coolant line out of the way and also there is a line that goes along the rear if the pan that needs to be unbolted and moved aside. Make sure you use the correct sealant when putting it back on.

Why do you need to remove it?

I have to get the chunks of timing chain guide out. Already did the chains and after I put it back in the car I want to drop the pan.
