    Possible aftermarket exhaust leak

Had a local speed shop install AWE full exhaust last year. Seem to be a lot louder now. I suspect a leak. Are they going to charge me if I return to them to put up on the hoist to take a look?

Exhaust systems have a break in period and do get louder over time. An exhaust leak is a pretty distinct sound and doesnt just sound like your exhaust system getting louder.....unless you have a hole in your system somewhere. They may charge you to put it on the lift especially if they dont find anything. If they dont charge you, I would at least tip the guy for putting it on the lift.

If it's a constant ticking type sound it could be a leak. Try to drive next to a concrete divider if you have any near you on some road. Drive with windows down and it'll help resonate any leak if it's close to driver or passenger side.

Some shops may charge. My shop that installed it didn't when I went in to check for a leak. Depends on how busy they may be and if they have a lift free.

This is spot-on as far as detecting a leak is concerned. I had a hissing sound in mine (like a diesel truck's turbo spooling up), which you can hear at 0:08 below:

    Current: 2016 A3 w/ Black Optics
Sold: 2013 S4 with AWE intake and resonated exhaust.
