    See, it's not 4F0 857 511 4PK as you typed, it's 4F0 857 511 E 4PK. That's a completely different part. The B8 era replacement for that C6 era unit is 8R0 857 511 4PK.

So it's still 8N6 and 9AK, but the rev E is 4L6 (auto-dimming without compass). So now there's a reason to have power and communications lines to the mirror. And since it's the B8.0 without humidity sensor, already discussed, it has only a 6-pin plug. 8-pin would have been for 9AQ (comfort climate control system, with humidity sensor in the mirror). Or B8.5.

    1 - 12v
    2 - ground
3 - to left reverse light
    4 - to side mirrors line 2
    5 - to side mirrors line 1
6 - to interior overhead light

Assuming the harness you got is for auto-dimming with humidity sensor without high beam assist, the wires on pins 1-6 are the same. The wire on pin 7 you can just tape up and ignore. If you have wires on all 8-pins, that's for with humidity sensor and with high beam assist, and you need to just get the correct harness.

Because you're still going to need either the other half of this connection in 8-pin plug or 6-pin plug and do some repinning. Or just get the correct harness for what you're actually installing.

9AK = basis climate system (single zone, one knob on the climate controls)
9AQ = comfort climate system (three zone, two knobs on the climate controls)
Do you have the correct mirror (without humidity sensor, for 9AK) for your vehicle's climate system? These PR codes should be on the vehicle identification sticker as well.

That's the problem. The harness referenced in the opening post is for an auto-dimming mirror with high beam assist, which is going to have an 8-pin plug, whether or not the person actually hooks up the HBA aspect.

That looks like it might be more appropriate. Confirm with them that harness, 6-pin version, is specifically for: B8.0, auto-dimming, without humidity (the RLS has a separate 3-pin connection and is not wired through the mirror plug on B8.0).

As I listed above, it should have six wires on it. That said, if you're not retrofitting the auto-dimming side mirrors, there's no point in the wires on pins 4 and 5, just remove those.
