C5 Allroad Build - Suspension Control Unit inside!

Time to start a BIO!

I purchased an '04 Allroad 2.5 TDI 180hp last year and straight away started to modify on it.
It's fully equipped except for solar sun roof and seats-memory function

I started to modify it pretty soon.
First of all new wheels:
9j 20" ET20 Q7 - running on 245/35-20

I then tryed to 402-mod the suspension, but I was not really happy about it.

So I started to design a suspension control unit, which allows to switch between stock and manual height control without any changes on the hardware.

In the beginning there was a very basic prototyp (worked fine for ~6 months)

Then I designed a smaller board using OEM plugs, which allows to mount the control unit without any cutting.

I found some OEM looking switches (rear- & front axis can be controlled separately)

Last week I stated off with a all new design, based on a housing:

And there it is, the maybe final edition, now waiting for another couple of weeks testing.

flat white vinyl wrap (only painted parts except roof)

Found a nice place up there. Just fixed it with some velcro tape.

Lowest setting possible, without changing hardware:

It may set a bit more if I roll some feet.

Stadles, I hope you perfected this upgrade because Im really love it and I want one. There are companies such as Arnott and IPP has some great O.E.M replacements of the bags for our Allroads. Ill be installing those in the next month or two and I can help with testing your component on a different set of bags.

Ill be on this forum just waiting for you to give a go on your beautiful creation. :)

what are you exactly looking for? these plugs you are looking for which are they? im interested in sending you a set of these plugs. I have a source who may have a few available for me to buy. and then ill send them to you if that's cool with you?

I am still waiting for the plugs as they are out of stock. They will be back on stock ~5th of april.

Also interested more details on its function. I mean I know you can manually control front and rear bags from the switches in the console (from the pic above) but is this all the unit does? Does it do any automatic lowering say when you hit 70MPH like OEM? Does it control the compressor at all?

What I really want is to use my phone to control it...totally possible with Android to control relays.

NO - This is exactly what I wanted to omit.
To me It is really annoying having the car going up and down all the time for no reason.
The car won't lower wen parked either. The OEM unit is fully circumvented.

No, not in this stage.
Compressor control will be available with the app-version only, as it is quite complex, getting the compressor to fill only the airtank on a purely analog board.
You will need to switch back to the OEM unit if you want the tank to be filled.
Otherwise you habe the hardwire an On/Off switch to the compressor.

I think I found a more or less simple way to control the compressor without any need of a microcontroller at all.
I am sure all of you want a working compressor while driving in manusl mode, so I am focusing on this issue.

Just a question about the unit, when it is switched on and lowers the car is there a set amount? Will it matter that I've 402'd it?
Does it vary car to car or would it be variable by you or us inside the unit then set to that each time?

There is no setting functionality.
As long as you press the "down" button, the car will lower the selected axle until the pressure is fully released.
And vice versa

This will happen automatically when you don't operate the suspension and pressure level is below a certain point.

Well I already driving on Lvl1 and my tires are smaller then stock (215-45-R17) I cant wait to dump it low after upgrading my control arms and steering components. What size are you driving on now ? I am thinking 18s with wide meaty tires.

I am driving 9j x 20" .... 245/35-20

If you want to go deeper than on my pics, you need to open the struts and remove all bump rubbers!
You will also need to open the compressor housing and remove the safety valve
