    Hi,

I am about to order a NU3001 Android head unit. Did you have to buy a canbus fitting? And did you fix your back speakers issue?

I 100% believe Android units with live Google Maps, spotify are the future!!

Your unit should have come with a memory card that's preloaded with iGo software and map. It goes in the left slot on the front of unit. If you don't have it, you need to contact the seller and have him send you one.

What load time are we talking about, boot time or load time between app switching..! my s100 winCE its pretty instant with both of those i just mentioned. I can do a recording for you if you want to see how fast things work.

38 seconds from ignition on until you can play music? Wow, that's a long time.

Correct. At first it seemed to take forever, now I'm used to it and hardly even notice. That boot time is spent navigating out of parking spaces/garages etc so there are more important things to be paying attention to.

Boot time. I heard that android radios have a long boot time 10 second wince vs 45 or so android. I do not know if that info is still accurate.

    Also is1024*600 screen worth extra $ over 800*480 ?

I never owned one of the S-100 units, but I did have a Dynavin D99 WinCE-based radio, and from what I understand all of these units are basically the same - just rebranded. Anyway, my boot times were very fast compared to yours. I think the Android units have a slower boot time than the Windows version.

I think the price is right for this unit. It appears to come with all the cables and connectors that will make it work. It should overcome all the necessary glitches.

    Anyone bought from this seller?

Has a plug and play option come out yet for those with a Symphony 2 (NON +) and Bose system?
I see some members got units that worked but had buzzing issues or rear speakers not working and then needing to solder/add resistors?

Behind the glove box, on the metal frame.
I stuck mine close to the passenger door so I can access it, just in case, from the door on the side of the dashboard (opposite of fuse box door)

My unit came with 2 harnesses. If I was in your shoes I would prabobly replace stock bose amp and just connect that to the new radio as it does have front/rear/subwoofer outputs for the amp.

I just ordered the Witson W2-M050 directly from Witson. They just started selling it a couple days ago. It's appearance is of an updated version of the S100 and they're calling it the S160 model. I'll post an update once it's received and I figure out the install. So far I've only purchased the enfig antenna adapter(Enfig AAA-VWAUD5), but plan to purchase also one of the trunk handle backup cameras I saw posted in a different thread a few days ago. I also plan to disassemble it first thing to look at it's internals to see about upgrading the memory and possibly checking it's internal flash if it's removable and possibly being able to swap it out for faster flash.

The main specs on it are:
    android 4.4.4
    1.6 GHZ quad core
    1GB ram
    front SD GPS map slot
    front SD slot
    front mini USB
all the rest of the usual features including can bus steering controls

I received the unit today. To my dismay when I disassembled the unit there was no removable flash or memory chips. Oh well, I was expecting removable modules for these.

The install was super easy. Just inserted keys, removed symphony, had to solder a couple wires back together that previous owner had cut, then plug the provided harness into the stock harness, plug in the provided GPS, plug in the enfig antenna(which was actually not needed cause the kit came with one), solder the antenna power to the provided harness, then plug the harness into the back of the unit and powered it up.

I'm still learning the menus but so far it seems to work pretty well. Sound quality is better than stock, the FM/AM reception so far is just as good if not better than stock, the screen quality is decent(certainly not on par with a recent tablet, but for a head unit it looks fine for me). There is something wrong with the provided igo maps app. It does not show the map and says that there is no map for where it says I currently am. I know its a problem with the app cause I started up Google maps and it immediately showed my location and loaded up the map. GPS status also was showing that I was connected to 11 satellites. So I'll be testing out their quality of support next.

Overall I'm very pleased so far with the head unit. A feature that it comes with that is pretty nice is I pulled into the gas station and went in to grab a drink and when I returned and started the car it immediately started playing the CD right where it left off. No boot delay. If you power back on within 5 minutes of power off there is no boot time.

In the settings for the nav make sure the file name location is pointing to the card slot or wherever the maps are stored. Only solution I can think of or the file is corrupt but I think you'd get an error for that.

Thanks, I'll spend a bit of time later looking for that in the app. I do get a few errors but it was late and I didn't want to write them down. I'll get them today. It doesn't error when I go to the map though. It just shows the icon of where I am with an all black screen. The errors come from other menus within the app about missing files.

Tech support with this unit worked out well. It turns out even if you buy the extra map card the unit ships preinstalled with a version with no maps. So I just had to uninstall the iGo app and then navigate to the gps card and install the iGo app from the card. Unfortunately it fixed the map display but then it defaulted to Chinese so I had to figure out how to change it to English. Google helped on that. So far I'm still pleased with the unit and how it operates. I have found another issue with the map software but I'd consider it minor since if it doesn't work out I'll just look to use an alternate map software. If you map out a destination and you don't follow it's course the rerouting seems to cause the app to crash. If you start the app back up it picks up where it left off but will crash again if you drive a different route. However whenever I stayed on the recommended route and it didn't have to reroute it never crashed the app. If you use google maps you won't even care about this navigation app issues. Here's a day time and night time pic plus video.

You should be able to update to 4.4.4 or 5 ROM on those units which may improve boot time and other issues. Also, look at what RAM it has, DDR3 1GB is probably upgradable to 2GB at least which would also improve boot times considerable.

Sorry if you already covered this, but will this plug and play with Bose? Also, you said the antenna works well, I have a 2006 b7 s4 with what I believe is the same stock unit as yours, the Symphony. I'm assuming you would run into reception issues if you had a Symphony II? One last question. with the boot delay do you think it would be worth getting a backup camera with this unit? I'm thinking I probably wouldn't wait 25 seconds for the camera to turn on when backing out of my garage so it would be a waste to install it. Thanks in advance for your reply.

The camera being USB shouldn't take more than a few seconds to initialise, the same way as any computer.

I bought the Erisin 7" Quad Core Android 4.4.4 Car DVD GPS SAT NAV WiFi 3G AUDI A4 SEAT EXEO 2028AM tonight. Looking forward to installing and playing. I also bought a pair of Polk Audio db6501 6.5inch Component System with 6.75inch Cones for the front and a pair of BOSTON 6inch Speakers for the rear. I already have upgraded the amp and included 2 subs. Should be awesome one thinks.

I have the symphony II+ without Bose. So I do not know if its Bose compatible. Send [email protected] an email and he will usually respond within 1 day. He's in china and usually responds at night here. After using the unit more I'd have to say my antenna reception is about equal with stock. Because the head unit has more powerful amp, when the station is clear, the sound is much better, but when the station is not 100% clear, that static is amplified. As far as backup camera, I had the same thoughts, but my camera from third party has not been delivered yet to test if the camera will display and operate before the unit has fully booted. One way you could make it work out for you is to always back into your space so when you leave the long boot is when you're driving out forward. So it could become more of a parking style preference. My friend who always parks in reverse wouldn't mind, but it wouldn't work as well for me.

I disassembled the unit and found no ram modules on the main board. However, I will have to do this again since something may be hidden behind the front LCD panel. I didn't do it before cause it didn't seem likely the ram was not on the main board. As far as upgrading the Android that's not going to be a standard process unless the manufacturer releases an upgrade.

Thanks for the contact info. I'd be very curious to know how the backup camera works once you get it installed. Please fill us in when you find out. I park in my garage so backing in would be a hassle. I think I have the Symphony II, not II+. I know some guys swap the II out for the II+ to get aux in and better sound quality, but the antennas are not compatible so they get bad reception. I couldn't find any place to order the unit on the website. How much was it and where did you order it from?
