chugging engine at cold start. *Video inside*

    Hey guys,
This is day two of my car chugging when I start it. Once the engine warms up it's fine but I'm worried about this sound. My guess is that it's the cam tensioner or some injector clogged.

It's a 2005.5 A4 B7 Avant just hit 65k miles. Only mods is K&H drop in air filter and 034 Turbo inlet hose

Here is a video so you can see what I'm talking about.

Any advice would be very helpful.

    Thanks!

That is the cam. which I have brought to an Audi dealership 3 different times now to try to get them to replace it under the extended warranty, but they wouldn't because they said it didn't qualify for the repair.

I have the same problem. Only under 30 degrees though. I've tried everything. Plugs, coils, n80, carbon clean, fuel filter, MAF sensor, checked intake manifold while I did the carbon clean. only thing left is to change my fuel injectors... I have nothing else to swap.. Took it to the stealership twice and they cannot find the cause. They did smoke test and ran logs. Granted they checked it once it was warm, but I assumed the logs will pick up a misfire. It didn't. After speaking with the techs for awhile, they pretty much agreed I should do a carbon clean. It didn't solve it.

Not yet. I have them sitting in my car awaiting to be cleaned and installed. Just waiting on the weather to warm up.

Their was a thread on here. That the OP confirmed new fuel injectors solved his cold start issues.

My issue of something similar (my car eventually started dying)... I started poking around more this morning to find the intake manifold cap to have popped off!! wtf such a simple fix when I tested it by taping it closed.

Wow that's crazy. I'm getting into the shop tonight and I hope it's something simple the like, otherwise I'm going to have to get rid of the car.

I had this exact issue, this morning it was -20F. Mine did however go away after 15 mins of driving. I've replaced my spark plugs, coilpacks this past year so its not them. Keep us posted on what you find out.

Just was able to get it into the shop today and they came back with a handful of problems. Once I get the full details on what exactly is going, on I'll post them up here. Sorry for the delay.

$400 just in labor to change the PCV valve and tubes is a bit of a kick in the teeth. That's a 15 min job including a break half way through for sandwiches.

    Congrats on getting married. :)
