    Rear Window Defroster

Button clicks, light around the button stays on...rear window doesn't defrost...

Would this be the fuse or the relay?

And also, does anyone actually know the location of the fuse???

I thought it was the 30 amp fuse on the DRIVERs side fuse box but now I'm not even sure about that.

sedan or wagon? For both, the S41 defroster 40A maxi fuse and the J9 defroster relay should be in the right rear. Seems the J9 moves around depending on body, but the J807 12v sockets relay is always middle row, inside position.

    Sedan...thx.

Is my situation more likely a fuse or the relay?

Don't the relays on these last for ever?

Fuses are just cheap metal wires in a plastic clip no?

People have posted situations over time that turned out to be failed relays. As for that relay, nothing particular comes to mind. Typically relays in the ECM box that people have to replace. Both the fuse and relay are right there in the right rear, so you can check them. You can test the maxi fuse just the same as an ATO/ATC/ATM fuse; test pads on the top. Just swap the two relays; do your 12v sockets now no longer work and your defroster works?

A5 coupe has the S41 fuse like the A4 sedan. Wagons are done differently.
The J807 is always in the same place, but seems they put the J9 in a different place for each body type. So thread was for the A5 coupe, but your A4 sedan, the J9 is suppose to be in that last row, but to the inside position.
