When should coilovers realistically be replaced or serviced?

According to receipts I have from the previous owner, my current set of KwV2s has been installed since 10k miles. I bought the car 86k and it currently has 106k. So, nearly 100k on these bad boys. It seems like most of the mileage prior to my ownership was highway mileage.

The coilovers still feel tight but I don't have much to compare to. When should they realistically be serviced or replaced? I am thinking of sending them back to KW this spring/summer just for good measure. Thoughts?

Ohlin/Stasis requires a 2 year or 25k mile service for their sets! Idk how that compares to KW though

Wow good point of reference. These are no ohlins but makes me think I should just pop onto the KW website to see if they have a recommmended servicing interval.

I am in the same boat but Stasis aka Koni, have stupid lead times (like 2 months) and as far as cost, really close to a new set

Yeah, at that point I'd be seriously considering just buying a new set. I can tell you that my STs will never get rebuilt. Maybe it's worth it for high end coilovers, but probably not so much for the ~$1000 sets.

From what I have read on other websites, service would be around ~$600 (about 150 per strut). I think that would be worth it, considering a new set would be ~$1500 +.

Robispec is also a shop that does KW servicing and is highly regarded in other enthusiast communities.

@PNW, I called KW fairly recently, because I had to buy a replacement coil perch (because the purple plastic/polymer was damaged and I could not spin it with the tool or wrench). I had asked about servicing on the units. They advised they could test each corner for $40 each to see if it needed to be serviced at all. And then if it did need to be serviced, it would be approx $150 per corner like you stated. If my KW's ever catastrophically fail, I'll be looking towards a set of ST's.
