So... this morning on the way to work the whistling was still very noticeable, EVEN with the radio turned up. The car was driving fine and no CEL. Then, as I left one highway to merge onto another I suddenly discovered I had very little power under acceleration... and by very little, I mean like 50-65 mph in around 30-40 seconds on flat ground...!!! Oddly, the whistling sound was far less noticeable, if any at all. From a complete stop the car seems to pull away fine under normal acceleration but as the speed rises, the power drops. What's weird is that there is still no CEL...!!?
In the parking lot at work, I popped the hood and tried to see if I could see or hear anything and had a colleague rev the engine at different speeds. I couldn't hear anything untoward and the main air intakes all seemed to be fine from filter through to the manifold, at least what I could see from the top of the engine bay. I also noticed that my range estimator is currently telling me I have 520 miles left with 50 miles already covered on a full tank... wouldn't that be nice.
I suspect whatever was leaking through a small gap has now opened up completely. Could this be a DV issue or have I popped a lower air hose...? But why no CEL...?
