Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
How will that effect the warranty on my engine? Ive been wanting to do that and an intake for the longest time but im worried about losing the warranty on my powertrain.

Any intake modifications can cause TD1, but my understanding is it's up to the tech.

well I would take the intake out and put the stock on any time I need to bring the car into the dealer. I cant change the exhaust back to stock every time I bring it to the dealer

I just had my car in for some work and I wasn't questioned on any of my mods. They all just said nice car haha. From my understanding, they told me exhaust doesn't matter since it comes after the engine. Also my SA said that you can mod your car and if a part fails it will be covered under warranty UNLESS the part that failed was due to an aftermarket part causing the issue.

They shouldn't do anything for exhaust. If the dealer is going to give you that much of a hassle of that, then go to a different dealer if you can. They only thing they should void with a muffler delete/resonator delete is your exhaust warranty. They should still honor warranty work for the cat and O2 sensors and everything else.
If you put an HFC in, then they won't honor your O2 sensors, but who cares about those, they are cheap

not going to do a HFC so im not worried about that. just doing the muffler and res delete because its cheap and sounds good. not looking to gain performance out of it

I just took my car in for service as well and my catback wasn't a problem, but it all depends on where you go. It doesn't hurt to ask your service advisor instead of finding out the hard way. Also, I have an intake and IMO it wasn't worth it. It's not hard to swap out, but after swapping it out a couple times to take it in and having some of the plastic tabs crack it really wasn't worth the hassle. But, if your still interested in an intake shoot me a pm, I have a carbonio with less than 6 months of use.

I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but I don't know how anyone could think that the muffler res. delete sounds good... maybe if it was a V8 or something..

but anything would sound better than our stock 4 banger exhaust, which sounds like its grasping for air

    ^^Agreed!!

My car is leased and I have both an intake and full catback exhaust. No issues with anything for me at the dealer in terms of them servicing or TD1. It never hurts to ask your service manager their opinions on mods before you do them.

I too haven't heard of any issues about muffler, but intakes can be an issue, its all dealer specific.

There'd a video on YouTube of a black b8.5 with one and it sounds pretty good imo. But to each his own

Thinking about doing a downpipe resonator delete with a straight pipe and either rear muffler cutout or delete.

The problem is that the 2 videos that I found on youtube by AZers sound vastly different (albeit one is a sedan, the other is a avant). That being said, I couldn't figure out why they sound so different considering the cutout is in front of the mufflers any ways.

I really like the first one, but the second one not so much :S; In theory both have Stock Cat, No Downpipe resonator, stock central resonator, cut out, then rear muffler.

Anyone else has videos of that particular setup? I know there is a exhaust clip thread on the board but after going through the 6 pages, didn't find anyone else's vid besides those 2 listed.

Could just be quality of the camera/sound and or where the cameras were positioned, no?
