USA. In the process of maybe buying a 2014 q5 s-line. I want to know the quirks +-.

    In the USA versions!
    Howdee.
I had a GTI and loved it for its performance, handling, comfort and low cost of ownership.
I have spent days looking at web sites, reviews and reading mags.
I have called and gone into dealers but most people there know almost nothing about the vehicles!
    I am in the process of maybe buying a 2014 q5 s-line.
I want to know the quirks good and bad of the vehicle before I buy.
I drove a GLK-350 also and may test drive a BMW x3/1. The BMW dealers and customer service in my area seems to be poor.
    1. SQ5 vs 3.0t q5 mechanical, chasis, electrical, body, etc differences?
    2. How/what does the comfort, auto, dynamic choices do/change? Valving in the shocks? Engine mapping? Transmission?
    3. Something different to make the SQ more stable at 155 mph vs reg Q5?
    4. How would the Auto vs Dynamic or comfort benefit me? If I get the info. on what and how I may be able to figure it out.
    5. Know issues large or small?
    6. No dip stick? This seems to be a big drawback. Will the dealer give one during the purchase?
7 What did you learn and find interesting once you bought yours?
    8. Any problems putting a trailer hitch on with the camera and radar in the back? More cost vs no lane assist/radar and camera?
I plan to do some off road but 95% on road. I will pull my offroad motorcycle to races and park in fields and drive down dirt/crappy roads.
I also work I D.C. so I must drive on horrible paved roads.
    9. How many fuel filters and where are they? The dealers tell me different things.
    10. Anything especially costly or different vs. the GTI in maintenance?
    11. Ease of repairs and upkeep?
    12. Seat upkeep?
    13. Electric roof issues?
    What else should I know?
    THANK YOU!

If you're worried about stability at 155mph and a dipstick is a "huge drawback", maybe this isn't the car for you. You taking it to the track to go 155?

I know those stupid people that go on forums and ask questions! What is wrong with them?
How are we supposed to know how much oil to try to ad and then when we do put some in how do you keep from over/under filling?
How do you check your oil?
Is there louvers that open and close at a certain speed?

Someone who writes a thread long has got to be serious. Question I'm wondering is how is a dipstick something you'd even care about when deciding on 50-60k dollar car. They're like 25$ online..

It has nothing to do with asking a question, but it has to do with you saying its a "huge drawback" that there is no dipstick. If that is a reason you wouldn't buy a car then that's your business, but I think its ridiculous as you can just buy one and add it to the setup. If you do an oil change you see what the car holds and you put in that much, if the car is running a quart low it tells you in the MMI to "add a quart" so thats what I do. I also get my oil changed every 5k so I don't need to check it because the car also will give you the level through the MMI. If I were you I'd buy a car with a dipstick because apparently thats a make or break for you. And sorry if your question about stability at 155mph is a little ridiculous to me because if you are driving that fast I really hope you are on a track and not a road or highway taking risk with other peoples lives because you feel the need to attempt to drive that fast.

I have personally answered most of your questions on various posts here, on audiworld.com and myaudiq5.com over the last 6 months, and those I haven't been involved in I have seen the answers from others.

I think part of the bad reaction you are getting on this thread is your lack of forum/google searching.

I would suggest doing some research on here and the sites I mention and then posting a more focused set of questions for a positive response...

    Here's one to get you started, I give it not to be facetious but to share a handy way to use google for site specific searches;

    Questions I'm comfortable addressing....

    1 thru 4: http://www.audiusa.com

    5. Nothing surprising. The platform has been around since '09. Kinks are mostly worked out...buy without hesitation.

    6. No dipstick. You won't miss it. You check the oil via MMI. Should you miss it....by all means, buy one.

    7. Supply has caught up with demand. Deals can be had. B&O audio is a must-have. You'll be surprised at how infrequently you have to lower the rear seats.

    8. You can get a towing package. But don't. Seriously. If you're going to tow, buy body-on-frame. Same for off-roading. This is a tall car. Or, following the marketing speak, a sports sedan with a backpack. For crappy roads, strongly consider 18" or 19" wheels.

10 & 11. AWD, forced induction...maybe nothing particular in maintenance, but with complex systems come complex repairs.

    12. Clean up when you spill a milkshake.

    13. I've found wind noise to be louder than expected when open.

WHAT? This is the first time I have posted here or on any other site about this/these vehicles.
I just test drove the car a few days ago. So I would not have been on here or other sites pestering people.
I also have google searched ALOT!
Maybe some should drink a little less coffee.
But you folks have a great day!

Most of your questions there are answered here in the forum.

SQ5 and 3.0 Q5 are the same cars only difference is in the engine. Data you have on audiusa

Stability at speed of 155 mph, LOL I think that no one was driving the two models at that speed

You have a lot of weird questions :
    10. Anything especially costly or different vs. the GTI in maintenance?
    11. Ease of repairs and upkeep?
    12. Seat upkeep?
    13. Electric roof issues?
Fuel filter is changed every 60,000 km LOL and costing $ 50

Search the forum and you will find all the answers

VroomVroom Sooo you spilled a milkshake in yours :)
Thank you kindly for your response!

I have not owned this vehicle for those of you that did not notice I am thinking about buying it. This is why I have so many questions.
I like to know what I am getting into and I like to do some of my own work.
I am not one of those people that walk into a dealer and look at the colors of the vehicles and says I want the ______ colored one.
I do a serious test drive, ask a lot of questions and do my research.

    10. I do not own the Q5 so I am asking if there I something I should know about like some crazy expensive part or fluid.
    11. Again I do not own the Q5
12.Some have said on what site I do not remember that they had bolster problems. Some vehicles have leather that take constant conditioning.
    13. Leaks, bad motors, cracking, noise, or anything else. Again I do not own the vehicle.

I realise it is your first post, hence helpfully suggesting some other sites which will help you find your answers and gently suggesting the way these forums work is 'you get out what you put in'.

You will get much more useful and friendly responses if you focus down what you are looking for - long lists of broad questions don't invite people to post, especially as the answers are often easily found with a few searches (for example the link I gave had a wealth of knowledge on the lack of dipstick...).

Not sure why you took so much offence to the advice... I certainly meant none and apologise if you took it that way...

    11. Again I do not own the GTI
    12. Depends on which seat: leather, cloth, alcantara (maintenance seats as in every car)
    13. There is no serious problems. One problem was but an official recall for this problem

    Good luck with researches

Thank you folks for your assistance. Maybe I am a little antsy about trying to find good answers in order to buy the vehicle sooner.

Just do it! Haha. I had a 09 MKV prior to my q5 purchase. I have no issues with the GTI. No consumption and nothing broke until the last year (slip ring, door lock mechanism, and cv boot). But reg maintenance items would be roughly the same with the exception that your buying more oil, 8qt (I think) vs the 5.

My GTI is stage 2 and lowered. So the ride/handling is slightly different. Still feels planted, but not as hard as the GTI.

Acceleration/speed, stage 2 gti feels faster due to the insane torque.

Upkeep is as costly or cheap as you want it to be.

Plus. Each owners car is different, the mkv platform has a lot of quirks with the fsi engine but the tsi didn't but some still have problems. Luckily for me, I didn't have any problems.
