Do you have aftermarket tie rod ends? On OEM/OE replacement ends the notch for the pinch bolt is elongated, not a circle. This gives you room to adjust the bump steer.

Billet valve cover install: are you supposed to reuse the valve cover bolts (bolt, spacer, grommet) from the OEM valve cover?

I removed them, but they really do not want to install into the billet valve cover (no clearance).
I am thinking perhaps they may not be perfect from removal (took some force), but a new set of 14 bolts runs 200$ here (...)

    Thanks

I screwed mine up bc I rushed but IIRC, you need new ones because of the spacer/grommet. I think i saw replacement kits with the spacer/grommet long ago but I might be wrong. I was in a bind and needed new hardware ASAP.

Getting squeaks from the front suspension for a few years now and assuming it's past time for some replacement parts. I've owned the car since about 75k mi and have generally kept it up well, but I think the suspension is all original outside of the front upper control arms.. Motor is good, manual transmission is good, a/c has been replaced, etc. I don't know much about suspension though as I've never done any work in that area on any cars I've owned. I have a good local indy who I trust but they are pricey. Anything I can do aside from walking in and saying "what needs to be replaced?"

I'm assuming upper and lower control arms, shocks/struts, etc? Or just bushings? Front and rear? Should I be considering Koni yellows or ohlins or something if I'm replacing parts? How many thousands should I be expecting to spend at this point? Should I take it to the indy that I trust for $145/hr or take it somewhere possibly cheaper?

I'm interested in keeping this car for the long term and making this an investment toward that if needed. I do some work on it myself but don't have access to my tools for now so it would all be at the shop. Thanks in advance.

edit: car is stock outside of stage 1 APR. I just put on new Pilot Sport 4s today and figure it might be a good time to make sure the suspension is good.

The front suspension parts are easy to install actually, just make sure you do an alignment afterwords. There also a lot of how to videos on how to change these out .

I’ve got a question , The B7 2.0t has 2 SMIC , air enters the passenger side then travels to where?
It looks like it goes into a square support under the radiator then exits into the driver side Intercooler.
Why didn’t they run the a pipe across the from of the radiator for more air ?

Yes there's a crossover tube on the bottom of the core support that goes between the two intercoolers.

As for why not in front of the radiator, most likely not worth it. You'd probably get negligible improvement to intake temps and lose some engine cooling by blocking the radiator

Makes sense. It's more that I don't know which parts need it and which don't. Also I'm separated from my garage and all my tools so I won't be able to do the work myself. Maybe I will just wait a few months until I have access again.

I would do it all at once, 034 Motorsports, JHmotorsports all sell the complete set, Doing it all at once will save you the time and effort doing it piece by piece later down road.

Your welcome, just pay attention when your changing out the control arms that you put the same ones in like for like. There are 2 different ones for each side. It made all the difference in mine. That squeak is annoying as hell

Meyle HD are also very good, and cheaper than TRW/Lemforder/034, etc. Make sure to TQ at ride height, very important!

Replaced the knob with one from a TT and it’s way taller than the oem s-line shift knob.

It’s comfortable ergonomically when the armrest is leveled, but just doesn’t fit a sporty look.

Debating if I should cut the shifter stalk a little to lower it. Seems to be the only way, should I chop it?

Does anyone know if the later 66.6mm wheel hub will fit our cars? I am replacing the bearings and was thinking of getting the later wheel hubs so I can eliminate my hub centric rings.

edit: is the spine on the B8 wheel hub the same as the b7? if so it looks like I could use a B8 wheel hub and get the larger size.

Hard to say, only way to know is try it. Buy a hub and see if it fits the axle.
I wouldn't cuz you wont be able to run any 57.1mm wheels, and hub rings are cheap and work fine.
But curious to see if it works..
Maybe you can find the spline count of the axles online.

Did anyone get the "nylon washer" or "thrust washer" for H&R Street coilovers? The washer that sits underneath the front springs.

Does this seem to suggest a new valve cover gasket is needed?

Are you able to purchase a new plastic key and mock key fob for c7 a6? If so where, and how much? My last set of keys was ran over by a lawnmower smh.

On the B7, the nylon emergency key has cutouts matching your locks and an embedded chip to work with the immobiliser - you will likely need to work with a dealer or an authorised locksmith to get a blank and reprogram it.
