Just saw this yesterday. Wondering the same now. There is a larger filter in a plastic canister next to it as well. My guess is emissions crap.

    Nice thread Axis

I need to make new spacers for my Thor skid plate. What material should I use for it? Originally it was some plastic thing but it ended up getting flattened after being over-tightened during oil changes and began rubbing on my front sway bar. I took the skid plate off but now winter is coming and I'd like to put it back.

Don't know what vag com cable to get. Bought one from amazon but can't get the drivers to work on windows 7. It has a windows 7 driver but says it won't start properly. Looking for a new cable with drivers that work with windows 7. Any body have one working properly? If you could provide a link to the one you have it would make me feel more comfortable in buying it instead going in blind.

Does the trunk of your car get dirtier than the rest of the car? After a fresh wash I can drive 10 miles and the back of the car will be full of dirt again.

They will never sell. Every single trade offer I get. Is for cast 17x8 wheels. And they got the freshly powder coated so it should be a straight trade.

you want to see it spiking to 14v while on and anything 12.5v or under is pretty much a dead battery

With an RSN-E - US version, 4gb (not SDHC) cards. Some mp3s are visible, while some are not. Is there a limit to length of song, ID3 tag compatibility etc? I notice that I wont see a track in the list, so I take out the sd card, edit the file length on my PC, plug SD card back in and the song is recognized. I know there is a 512 file limit, but not sure about the other limitations.

Also, whats the flap behind the rear view mirror? I always forget to take a pic, but I will try and grab one today.

    Thanks!

The little tab is to change between day time driving and night time so the light won't bother you. It's sad our cars never came with auto dimming. But it's simple, cheap to manufacture , and works.

The hook in the back is a tow hook. Do not jack from it as it's not designed to take a load from that direction. The screw in tow hook is if you need pulled from the front and the hoop in back is if you need to be pulled out of a ditch or something backwards.

Lol I see now. It's overthinking straight from Germany. It's a small sun visor it also helps to block off the red light from the sunroof controls when you're driving at night with the rear view mirror in nighttime mod. Without it you'll see red glare on the mirror

Yes, as long as you mean engine to chassi and thats underneath on turboside. Hard to explain exact location but you kind of figure it out since its between the block and frame, short black wire bolted in both ends with nuts with black protective cups over.

    Found the RSN-E Manual --

Memory cards must be formatted using the FAT or FAT32 methods.
The file/folder name must not exceed a maximum of 64 characters
in length. Files with longer file/folder names are not played. The file
names for the MP3 files must have the extension “.mp3”.
MPEG-1 layer 3 format is supported by the MP3 player. For
compressing MP3 files, we recommend a bit rate of at least 160
kbits/s. Fixed bit rates of 32-320 kbits/s are supported.

In the case of MP3 files with a variable bit rate, there may be a
discrepancy between play time displayed and the real time.
The maximum number per medium is limited to 400 files and 256
    file folders.
If various types of information (artist, album, track name, and so on)
are to be displayed, an ID3 tag must be attached to the MP3 file. The
MP3 player supports Versions 1 and 2 of ID3 tags. The display of
artist and track name is limited to a total of 64 characters maximum.
The Navigation System recognizes playlists and can play MP3 files
in the sequence established there. The structure of the playlists
must conform to m3u format. The file names must have the extension
    “.m3u”.

Someone as the part number for the bushing on the shifter? The one you can see when you remove the shifter boot, looks like a plastic sphere. When i removed my shifter trim to wrap it I noticed that it's cracked.

"A good, cost-effective improvement is to perform the "Big Three" electrical upgrade. This will vastly improve your vehicle's electrical system, allowing more current to flow easier to all components. This upgrade replaces or augments three key cables in the electrical system with 1/0 or 4 gauge wires: the battery ground to chassis wire, the chassis to engine block wire, and the alternator plus to battery plus wire. This increases your electrical system's current flow capability, ensuring a more consistent voltage under varying demand conditions."

supposedly either doing the big 3 or making a grounding kit will increase hp a bit by less electrical resistance. not sure if i buy in to that part but it couldn't hurt. overall it will create a better running system that is optimized for a aftermarket stereo and your lights shouldn't dim at all when your roll your windows up

its really not! throw some new battery terminals on there while your at it. battery to ground is like a foot. battery to alt you need a few feet shouldn't take more then 15 min to do and the engine to ground shouldn't be bad either but evidently its near the turbo somewhere

i wouldn't mind a little flame here or there. never heard of a fsi shooting flames, it's basically just running rich and extra fuel getting ignited in the exhaust right?

also another dumb question, anyone know what resistor i can put in the + for my boost gauge to make it a little more dim to match my dash? its a podi mechanical gauge

Yeah I think it's just extra fuel.

I'm not sure about resistors but you could look for the wire that is the dimmer in te cluster ad just tap into it.
